Book Review 📖 📻 Title: The Storm of Echoes ✍🏻 Author: Christelle Dabos ✨ Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️ Spice: N/A 📖 Read: 536 pages I can’t believe I finally finished this amazing series! ✨ This final book of the Mirror Visitor series was truly something else! 🩷 It included a lot more information/explanation to get to the conclusion than I think was necessary. IMO the author could’ve kept it a little more simple and it would’ve been just as effective 🤷🏻‍♀️ Ophelia and Thorn take their investigation of God to a much deeper and personal level than what I was expecting. 🪞I love these two together so so much. Without too many spoilers, I will say that the ending was not quite what I expected but I actually enjoyed it and found it very fitting. Ophelia and Thorn are fighters and they belong together so in my heart they always will be! 💕 I highly recommend this series! I can tell it’s one that I’ll always have on my mind ✨ A little more than that, even ✨ . . . . . . #bonsreadsbooks #books #booksbooksbooks #library #shelfie #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #fantasy #fantasyreads #fantasyreader #fantasybooks #fantasyseries #themirrorvisitorseries #thestormofechos #opheliaandthorn #mirrorvisitor #christelledabos #yafantasy #yaseries

🇬🇧Christelle Dabos’s La Passe Miroir Thorne and Ophelia are two of my favorite book characters ever. They are so well written that they felt real. I was upset for several days when I had to let go and tell goodbye. If I can resume this series in one word, it would be « unpredictable ». Nothing is expected, it is plot twist after plot twist. And I loved every bit of it. Now go read it! 😘

Happy Saturday! What’s your favourite book with an illustrated cover? This photo has been sitting in my drafts since last year so I figured it could be time to whip it out! I could stare at the cover art of The Mirror Visitor Quartet forever (illustrated by Laurent Gapaillard). 😍 Not much for today’s caption – I’m a bit knackered by this working week. The weather where I am feels like a four-seasons-in-one-day kind of day, so I feel like this picture suits it a lot. ☀️🌧❄️💨 [Photo description in alt text.] . . . #TheMirrorVisitor #AWintersPromise #TheMissingOfClairdelune #TheMemoryOfBabel #TheStormOfEchos #ChristelleDabos #EuropaEditions # #SereneCore #SereneCoreAesthetic #CosyAesthetic #CosyReads #Cosy #Bibliophile #Bookstagram #BookstagramAustralia #AusYABloggers #BookBlogger

Hurray for finishing a series, it’s always good to have that accomplishment feeling when you get to the finish line. This is The Mirror Visitor series by Christelle Dabos (I read the original French, so I don’t know who translated it into English). It was fun, but the plot took a turn midway and it feels like the series had two different vibes. Conflicting thought. The story of the last novel, The Storm of Echos, was so surrealist at times, it was absurd. It felt like a Magritte painting, but worst. I’m not a fan of Magritte, it makes me uncomfortable. So you can imagine my feelings about this book. It wasn’t all bad though, it’s still a page-turner and it was good to follow to characters along, one last time. Have you read or are you reading this series? What do you think? #themirrorvisitor #christelledabos #thestormofechos #lapassemiroir #latempetedesechos

Trying to catch up on easy paperwork that I never have time for. Campus is like a ghost town but between the flu and the plague I would stay inside to if I didn’t have to go to work. Enjoying the Santa Ana’s so I have a reason to use my 10 bottles of lotion. It’s the last book in the Mirror series. #TheStormOfEchos

November Reading Wrap-Up 📚 Did you have any stand outs this month? I had an excellent month for finishing a few series’; I finished The Mirror Visitor quartet (unfortunately a little disappointing but I will stan Ophelia and Thorn for life!), The Age of Darkness quartet (if you follow @cabeswriter_ , you’ll know exactly what series I’m referring to!), and the Crownchaser duology (I cannot recommend this LGBTQIA+, fast-paced, crazy space-opera with a romance that doesn’t overshadow the main story enough!! PICK IT UP!). Iron Widow was an absolute stand out in terms of beginning a new series/author so I’m extremely excited with whatever Xiran Jay Zhao decides to pen in the future. 😍 I started the Hades & Persephone books by Scarlett St. Clair for a bit of spicy, light reading since I’d seen so much about it on here. It did have some promising world building and characters but by the second book, some of the tropes were starting to wear on me (miscommunication trope, stooooppppp) and the characters were really beginning to frustrate me. So that one I’ll leave I think. Here are all the books I read this month and the ratings I gave them: 5 star reads ✨ Iron Widow RWBY Manga Anthology Vol. 5 Aurora’s End A Psalm for the Wild-Built Thronebreakers 4 star reads 🌟 Edgedancer 🎧 Into the Dying Light The Last Graduate Spin the Dawn 3 star reads ⭐️ The Storm of Echos A Touch of Darkness Unravel the Dusk 2 star reads 💫 A Touch of Ruin Note: I rate books in quarters, but I’ve rounded down for simplicity. What’s a book series advertised as middle grade or YA that you feel doesn’t quite fit into the genre? I’ve always felt that the His Dark Materials trilogy is definitely not a children’s book with the complexity of the themes it explores. That said, in some ways it’s like a Disney film; you understand more about it when revisiting it as an adult (mainly the adult jokes hidden in most Disney films!). 😉 The Mirror Visitor quartet is also one of those series that slips around genres and explores some complex social themes. I remember picking up the first book from the middle grade section in Waterstones (oh to go to London again!), knowing very little about the plot. Admittedly, I spent a lot of time being bamboozled by the plot and the world the characters inhabit but by the end of the first book and the beginning of the second book, I was thoroughly smitten by the series. I finished the final book earlier this month (no spoilers here, don’t worry!) and while I was a little disappointed in some ways about how the story finally panned out, the scenes between Thorn and Ophelia gave me life and they will forever live rent-free in my mind! 🥰🤌🏼 Here’s the synopsis of the first book, A Winter’s Promise: Plain-spoken, headstrong Ophelia cares little about appearances. Her ability to read the past of objects is unmatched in all of Anima and, what's more, she possesses the ability to travel through mirrors, a skill passed down to her from previous generations. Her idyllic life is disrupted, however, when she is promised in marriage to Thorn, a taciturn and influential member of a distant clan. Ophelia must leave all she knows behind and follow her fiance to Citaceleste, the capital of a cold, icy ark known as the Pole, where danger lurks around every corner and nobody can be trusted. There, in the presence of her inscrutable future husband, Ophelia slowly realizes that she is a pawn in a political game that will have far-reaching ramifications not only for her but for her entire world. 🏷Photo ID and tags in comments.

Happy belated book birthday to three books I’m very excited to read! “The Storm of Echos” by Christelle Dabos The final book in the Mirror Visitor Quartet is finally translated into English! I love this series and I cannot wait to see how it ends. “Sistersong” by Lucy Holland I’ve been looking forward to this book since it came out in the UK this spring. Finally it’s available in the US! This is going to be my next physical read. “A Spindle Splintered” by Alix E. Harrow This is my first read by Alix E. Harrow, but it definitely won’t be my last. I really enjoyed this novella and will be recommending it to everyone. Review up soon (I hope). Thank you to the publishers for the ARCs! 📚 What’s a new or upcoming release you’re excited for?
