Im Jahr 1996 beschaffte die Würzburger Straßenbahn bei LHB 20 komplett niederflurige Multigelenkwagen für die neue Strecke nach Rottenbauer. Die Fahrzeuge sind technisch verwandt mit der Variobahn, die zur selben Zeit entstand. Um den durchgehend niederen Boden ohne Stufen zu ermöglichen, wurde auf Achsen verzichtet. Die Wagen laufen auf Einzelrädern in starren Fahrgestellen. Die fünfteiligen Fahrzeuge wurden in nur dieser einen Serie gebaut und sind daher nur in Würzburg anzutreffen — beziehungsweise sie waren es bis zum 3. November 2023. An diesem Tag wurde die gesamte Flotte von der Technischen Aufsichtsbehörde wegen eines Defekts an einer Fahrwerksschwinge aus dem Verkehr gezogen. Bis heute ist nur ein Fahrzeug testweise wieder unterwegs, jedoch noch ohne Fahrgäste. Bis alle 20 Wagen wieder den Dienst aufnehmen können, könnte noch ein ganzes Jahr vergehen. Seither gilt ein Notfahrplan, und die sonst nur in der Hauptverkehrszeit eingesetzten Duewag GT8 sind rund um die Uhr im Dienst. Hier ist Wagen 266 mit seiner Eigenwerbung „100% Würzburg“ kurz vor seinem Ziel Rottenbauer an der Haltestelle Brombergweg zu sehen, rund ein halbes Jahr vor der Zwangspause. Die Wagen haben übrigens ein einzigartiges Interieur im Stil der 1990er Jahre in den Farben Pink, Beige, Braun und Schwarz. À leurs pieds, des motifs géométriques colorés. Imaginés par le plasticien camerounais Pascale Marthine Tayou, ces cinq groupes de statuettes en fonte sont des fontaines, plus précisément des points d’eau, baptisées Poings d’eau car l’eau sort d’un poing, si l’on appuie sur un robinet poussoir (sinon, point d’eau). S’inscrivant dans la longue histoire de la fontainerie parisienne, ces Poings d'eau sont des œuvres à valeur d’usage, conciliant enjeux artistiques et finalités fonctionnelles. Ils renvoient aussi à l’histoire de la statuaire africaine, précisément aux statues-colons. 👉🏼 Nous en parlerons lors de la 2ème conférence-discussion que j’ai le plaisir d'organiser le 4 mai à 11h au pavillon Carré de Baudouin, à l’invitation de la Mairie du 20e. Heute wollte ich mit dem Zug von Bonn nach Ahrweiler fahren, mit dem SEV nach Mayschoss und dann von dort aus zurück Richtung Ahrweiler wandern. Was habe ich bekommen? Eine Busfahrt von Ahrweiler nach Altenahr via Grafschaft und zurück. Was war passiert? Die Rotweinstrasse ist mal wieder zwischen Dernau und Altenahr gesperrt und der Bus fährt mal wieder "die Umleitung ". Daher werden Rech und Mayschoss nicht angefahren und man muss in Dernau in einen extra Bus umsteigen. Ist halt nur blöd, wenn diese Tatsache weder in der Auskunft des VRM vermerkt ist, nicht im Datenbestand des Reisenavigators vermerkt ist, es keine Infos im Bus gibt und keine Aushänge an den Haltestellen. DANN stranden auch mal 30 Fahrgäste in Altenahr und sind stinksauer. Tramwaje odzyskały swój blask, jednak nadal brakuje nowoczesnego taboru. 🇺🇸 In the early 21st century, the city's trams were on the verge of collapse. The change of government in the city and accession to the European Union resulted in funds being obtained for the reconstruction of this means of transport. Today, there are two tram lines in the city, which run on completely rebuilt tracks. Trams have regained their splendor, but there is still no modern rolling stock. 🇩🇪 Zu Beginn des 21. Jahrhunderts standen die Straßenbahnen der Stadt kurz vor dem Zusammenbruch. Der Regierungswechsel in der Stadt und der Beitritt zur Europäischen Union führten dazu, dass Gelder für den Wiederaufbau dieses Transportmittels eingeworben wurden. Heute gibt es in der Stadt zwei Straßenbahnlinien, die auf komplett erneuerten Gleisen verkehren. Scotland Farm, deep in the heath of the Isle of Purbeck, is owned by The National Trust and currently home to Scotland Farm Heritage Crafts. Etched into the lintel above the entrance is ‘16PW65’, the date of its construction and initials of Peter Whefen, the builder. He was clearly doing much better than his neighbours, escaping from the world to this isolated spot, building his farmhouse out of stone nabbed from the recently slighted Corfe Castle) while, across the water of the harbour, the Plague destroyed the town of Poole. The farmhouse has become a museum. The landscape soon changed with the development of the extraction of clay requiring new transportation methods. Middlebere Tramway, to the north, was a horse-worked line, opened in 1806 as the first in the country, connecting the clay pits at Norden Heath to Middlebere Quay, on the fringe of Poole Harbour (Middlebere Farm today). In 1840 the Pike Brothers, William Joseph and John William, to keep up with the competition, built Pike’s Tramway further to the north, over Ridge to the River Frome, downstream of Wareham (extended to the south in 1860). The line was a continual downhill gradient to the water with the wagons run by gravity to then be hauled back up by horses. In 1854 a second line was built on the Isle of Purbeck, creating a port to neighbour Middlebere at Goathorn, the line becoming known as the Fayle’s Tramway, its route skimming Scotland Farm to the south. Despite Fayle’s Tramway finally trumping Middlebere in 1907, the line fell out of use in the 1930s but parts of the route are sill visible in the woods and used by the Oil refinery. Despite being adapted for steam the Pike’s Tramway closed in 1957. Slowly the Isle returned to a peaceful place, while Scotland Farm just watched to all happen, minding its own business. Follow medieval trails over little stone bridges through a once heavily industrial landscape, its resources tapped since the Bronze Age. Skim the oil refinery, hidden behind thick Corsican pines and hard working nodding donkeys, to enter deeper into the woodland. Cut through the ancient estate of Rempstone, home to stone circles, burial mounds and old tramways.
