The words in this week’s verse sound like they came right out of the mouth of one of the “greats” in the Bible. Maybe King David, or Solomon, or Abraham, or maybe one of the 12 disciples. Surely it was someone who lived a life devoted to the one true God. But actually, these words came from the mouth of King Nebuchadnezzar. The King who ordered all the wise men in his court to be killed because they couldn’t tell him what he had dreamt. And then praised God when Daniel not only told him of his dream but interpreted it through God’s power. The King who then threw Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego into the fire because they refused to bow down to his statue-god. And then praised the true God because He saved them from the deadly inferno. King Nebuchadnezzar, who bounced back and forth between praising God and making his own, spoke these words. If you read the book of Daniel, you’ll notice a pattern. Good ole’ King Neb praises God for his power and might, and then he forgets and falls back into his old patterns. Far more often than I’d like to admit, I fall into this pattern, too. I forget the good things God has done in my life, and I fall back into my old patterns of fear, doubt, and unbelief. This week, King Neb gave me the reminder I needed. Mine is an imperfect faith, and I often forget. But I will keep coming back to my God, assured that He never left me. And when my old patterns creep back into my heart, I’ll pause and think of this king. And I’ll be reminded. And it will be my pleasure to tell of the good things my God—the one and only true God—has done. 👉 Who else has an imperfect faith? Hey, God Loves You! “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.” 1 John 3:1 How lucky are we that God, the creator of all things, decided to write a book containing all the words He wanted us to know about Him and His never ending love for us.
I think one of the features of the book of Psalms I so need is praise. It’s mentioned 4 times in the first four verses of Psalm 113, and he finishes with it. Often, my mind is moving to the next thing on my list or thinking about a situation or person - and it rarely settles enough in the hustle and bustle of the day to do this. (Maybe it’s here because God knows we are prone to self-absorption and agendas, thus, need reminders.) Scholars tell us that the term “praise” is communicated in 7 different Hebrew words, approximately 248 times in the Bible. Therefore, i’m likely not alone in needing a reminder. 🙌Add this post to your phone. Out for a walk, my little guy was excited to find some dandelions—all seeded out and perfect for wish-making. “Look, Mom. They’re like a trophy,” he said. “Yeah,” I thought, “a trophy of weeds.” Even though we’re old enough to know better, I wonder if we spend our lives clinging to a trophy of weeds. Wealth, careers, success, popularity, likes, and shares—they all make a beautiful bouquet of emptiness. Sometimes we cling to our family, our kids, our spouse, holding on to them as if they are the prize we’ve been waiting for. But even the dearest people in our lives can be dandelion trophies. The problem isn’t in enjoying these things, it’s in making them our trophies. Though we give them trophy status as the things we desire most in life or use them to measure success, like the dandelions in my son’s hand, they can blow away in the wind. Instead, we must look for the trophy offered through grace, the prize we haven’t earned and can’t take credit for. When we are in danger of clinging to dandelion trophies, sometimes we need the wind to remind us to shift our focus so that we cling to the true trophy offered by Christ. Nothing this world has to offer can compare to our salvation and an eternity with our Savior. Paul said it this way, “And now the prize [trophy] awaits me—the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of his return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his appearing” (2 Timothy 4:8). Friends, I pray that you claim this trophy through a personal relationship with the Lord. Cling to it and invite others to reach out for their own. Together, let’s eagerly look forward to His appearing. If I could have anything.. let me be an offering. As Christians, we proclaim that our lives no longer belong to us, but to God. In all that we do, it’s to further the Kingdom of God. Our flesh will fight, and it will desire to do the opposite. Even Jesus faced this trial before going to the cross: “And he said, “Abba, Father! All things are possible for you. Take this cup away from me. Nevertheless, not what I will, but what you will.” — “Stay awake and pray so that you won’t enter into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”” Mark 14:36,38 CSB Jesus experienced even His own flesh not wanting to go to the cross, but ultimately His spirit and obedience to God won. The question to ask yourself is, “Do you allow your flesh or the Spirit to dictate your decisions?” Many Christians struggle with it, but there are countless stories in the Bible where obedience is rewarded by God.

🎓✨ Today, I stand proud and humbled as I celebrate a monumental achievement in my life – graduating with a BEng Tech in Extraction Metallurgy. From a man known as “the prince of preachers” - who, in his lifetime, preached to about 10 MILLION people, and preached about 10 times per week. He was in the limelight. It was his calling, but it was not his focus. That’s hard to do when those around you make such a big deal about you. It’s also hard when the expectation, even in the Christian Industry, is that you present yourself as the expert AND your goal is to be popular. They call it something else (your platform), but it always feels like the wrong emphasis— that we are missing the true point of it all. I think my angst about the whole thing is why I use this forum mainly for quoting Scripture and quotes by dead people who gave their lives for the furthering of the Gospel. You’ll find very few of my own quotes- and when there is one - I pray for the mercies of God to ensure that it has Everything to do with His work in and through me — and oh, so little about me. Any light in us comes from Christ. We are reflectors of His light because we do not possess light on our own. Yet we are so prone to “take the credit” because our pride loves self-exaltation. The point of letting our light shine is so that God alone would receive the glory (Matthew 5:16). May we remember that.
| Colossians 1:14 | To the believer struggling with their identity in Christ, this is for you. You’re seen, you’re heard, and you’re known. God knows all the wrongs of your past, where you’ll fall short in the future, and He still sent Jesus to die on the cross for the forgiveness of your sins. This redemption doesn’t need to be validated by anyone, only by what Jesus did on the cross. If people can’t see the redemption, it doesn’t make you any less worthy of that forgiveness. God loves you infinitely more than anyone ever could, remember that.

I was praying for something very specific for one of my kids. It had been a tough stretch, and I thought I knew exactly what my child needed, so I prayed for it. I was hoping for—almost expecting—an immediate response, so when that exact thing I had prayed for didn’t happen, I guess I sort of forgot about it. The urgency seemed to fade, and I moved on to other problems and different prayers. Then, weeks later, that same kid very casually mentioned something that happened at school. My response was equally as casual, something like a “that’s cool” as I continued to stir whatever was cooking on the stovetop. And then it hit me . . . THAT was what I had prayed for. The exact thing I had asked God to do weeks before, He did. And I almost missed it because I had forgotten about that prayer. How easily I forget. How quickly I give up on prayers. Without the instant gratification of immediate results, I simply move on to the next thing. But that’s not how God does things. He doesn’t hear our prayers and then move on to the next thing on His to-do list. No. He listens to each prayer and answers every one—sometimes, weeks later. I hope that reassures you tonight. I hope that gives you hope. I hope that inspires worship and praise deep in your soul because our God is so good and powerful and amazing. God doesn’t forget our prayers. Not a single one.
