Creating the final image in my signature editing style happens in three stages. First, I capture the image in my camera. Next, I open the RAW file in Adobe Camera RAW and make some adjustments using my own presets. Then I open the image in Photoshop to retouch and add the magic. Each image with a fine art edit like this one takes me about 30 minutes to edit. Sometimes even longer. Can you guess what type of session takes the longest to edit? Can you guess what takes me the least amount of time?

Capturing good photos of birds in flight is not easy to accomplish, even with today's modern camera tracking capabilities. You need a lot of things to go right. I was set up just off of a bridge when he came in flying roughly 70KM/H, the light was still relatively low in the sky which helped put some nice light on him. I started tracking him in flight when he banked in front of me as I managed to get about 20-30 frames of him and this is the one I went with. Sometimes you just need a creative shoot to reignite your spark. I have felt a lack of creativity lately. Owning your own business can come with many challenges, and I feel like I faced quite a few within a short span of time. It caused me to lose my focus and quite honestly be stuck in a loop of self doubt and negativity. Although the hiccups I have encountered in 2024 have been humbling.. they have also been necessary! Sometimes we need to face challenges to be able to refocus on our WHY. Although I have been in this business for almost 4 years, I think I have learned the most about myself and my business in the past few months. I know that my WHY is to serve people. To be a small part in some of the most special moments of peoples lives.. that is my WHY. To meet cool people, and create connections that go far beyond surface level.
