I had such a good time creating my very own Charcuterie Board at "Graze Craze" Visalia CA. A big shoutout to the staff for a wonderful experience. Thank you to the owners Overlin and his wife for hosting me and my family. Thank you to Emily for teaching the class. It was a lot of fun and a great time. I now know how to make salami rosettes, how to slice up kiwi, grapes and blueberries in a zig zag charcuterie way. I got to spend time with my mom and my niece. It was nice to see some familiar faces and good to meet new friends. I got to meet the new owner of "Graze Craze Laguna Hills" who thought my cutting kiwi skills was fabulous lol. I may have found my true calling. Cara was a founder member of The Wailin’ Jennys and subsequently toured widely as a solo performer. From 2012 to 2023, Cara also toured and recorded with JD Edwards as @thesmallglories and the duo won Folk Alliance International’s Folk Artist of the Year Award in 2020. 🏆 Cara is an incredibly skilled singer and arranger of vocal harmonies and an experienced workshop leader. You might make a craft with the Events and Programming Officer, go for a tour of the garden with the Senior Gardener, or learn about finds from dig to display with our Senior Keeper! We are releasing 'The Voice of Sheila Chandra' by Kazim Ali in November! Titled for the influential singer left almost voiceless by a terrible syndrome, the poems bring sweet melodies and rhythms as the voices blend and become multitudinous. There's an honouring of not only survival, but of persistence, as this part research-based, pensive collection contemplates what it takes to move forward when the unimaginable holds you back. Kazim Ali is the author of twenty-four books of poetry, essay, fiction, and cross-genre work. He has also edited an anthology of Muslim writers and books of critical writing on poets Agha Shahid Ali, Jean Valentine, and Shreela Ray, as well as translated books by Marguerite Duras, Ananda Devi, and Sohrab Sepehri. After teaching positions at various colleges including Oberlin, Davidson, and St. Mary's College of California, he was appointed Professor of Comparative Literature and Literary Arts at the University of California, San Diego, where he currently chairs the Department of Literature.
