‘India's Master Musician’ is an album by Hindustani classical musician Ravi Shankar, released in March 1959. It was recorded in Hollywood, California, and features the great Chatur Lal on tabla. Shankar befriended Richard Bock, founder of World Pacific Records, on his first American tour and recorded most of his albums in the 1950s and 1960s for Bock's label; Iconic cover design by Armand Acosta. 40 years later, Acosta and Maestro Shankar reunite at the Juliet Hollister Awards to benefit the Interfaith Center of New York and the Temple of Understanding. A mold was made of the original in 1892 and only a rare,few copies have been created from that mold to date. The fact that the Pietà plays a most important role in the forthcoming film The Last Supper, made it quite clear to me that I wanted one of those exact replicas of the Pietà. Dreams do come true. The one that you are seeing now, in what I consider my favorite church ‘in the world’ – Sint Jacobs Gent – is an identical replica from the Master(s) mold. The fact is, that to this day, Jesus Christ is considered the most important human birth in our world’s history. That fact is not created by prejudice, or one’s spiritual beliefs, it is simply a fact. But with God’s gift of beauty in all its manifestations, mankind has the grace to experience that beauty whether it is man-ufactured or God-ufactured. Certainly, that the life, the love and the teachings of Jesus still exist today is evidence of the Divine. No matter how, or in what form, the divine takes, it is simply a wonderful gift. Before this Pietà arrives at its home, which is the Academy of the Subtle Arts in Gent, I felt it divinely appropriate, if not a kind of perfection, that it be on display inside such a beautiful home of God as Sint Jacobs church. Setting up the debut in the home of The Master. On the occasion of the ongoing celebrations for the 500th anniversary of the death of Leonardo da Vinci, from 8 October to 17 November 2019 with free admission, "The Last Supper, timeless inspiration", Palazzo Reale intends to tell with two important distant works 500 years from each other, a tapestry and a film, the fascination that Leonardo's masterpiece has had and continues to have on the work and creativity of artists. The fact that the Pietà plays a most important role in the forthcoming film The Last Supper, made it quite clear to me that I wanted one of those exact replicas of the Pietà. Dreams do come true. The one that you are seeing now, in what I consider my favorite church ‘in the world’ – Sint Jacobs Gent – is an identical replica from the Master(s) mold. The fact is, that to this day, Jesus Christ is considered the most important human birth in our world’s history. That fact is not created by prejudice, or one’s spiritual beliefs, it is simply a fact. But with God’s gift of beauty in all its manifestations, mankind has the grace to experience that beauty whether it is man-ufactured or God-ufactured. Certainly, that the life, the love and the teachings of Jesus still exist today is evidence of the Divine. No matter how, or in what form, the divine takes, it is simply a wonderful gift. Before this Pietà arrives at its home, which is the Academy of the Subtle Arts in Gent, I felt it divinely appropriate, if not a kind of perfection, that it be on display inside such a beautiful home of God as Sint Jacobs church. Although the life of Christ, the life of Jesus, is no longer questionable, uniquely and strangely His crucifixion, which ended His life, is shared with the world in so many ways... Mary holding her lifeless son in her arms, is without question one of the great works of art that awakens that passion, and beauty, living in each one of us, is awakened. LA PIETÀ DI GENT The Pietà ... The Masterwork of Michelangelo, the original in the Vatican in Rome, has come to Gent Belgium. A mold was made of the original in 1892 and only a rare,few copies have been created from that mold to date. The fact that the Pietà plays a most important role in the forthcoming film The Last Supper, made it quite clear to me that I wanted one of those exact replicas of the Pietà. Dreams do come true. The one that you are seeing now, in what I consider my favorite church ‘in the world’ – Sint Jacobs Gent – is an identical replica from the Master(s) mold. The fact is, that to this day, Jesus Christ is considered the most important human birth in our world’s history. That fact is not created by prejudice, or one’s spiritual beliefs, it is simply a fact. But with God’s gift of beauty in all its manifestations, mankind has the grace to experience that beauty whether it is man-ufactured or God-ufactured. Certainly, that the life, the love and the teachings of Jesus still exist today is evidence of the Divine. No matter how, or in what form, the divine takes, it is simply a wonderful gift. Before this Pietà arrives at its home, which is the Academy of the Subtle Arts in Gent, I felt it divinely appropriate, if not a kind of perfection, that it be on display inside such a beautiful home of God as Sint Jacobs church. Although the life of Christ, the life of Jesus, is no longer questionable, uniquely and strangely His crucifixion, which ended His life, is shared with the world in so many ways... Mary holding her lifeless son in her arms, is without question one of the great works of art that awakens that passion, and beauty, living in each one of us, is awakened.
