The Woma (Aspidites ramsayi) also known as the sand python is a strong, large (up to 2.3 meters) snake species. It inhabits large parts of the arid interior of Australia as well as parts of Western Australia. It hunts by night, as the days are often to hot. They prey on a variety of prey animals that they catch by entering their burrows and pin them. Prey includes reptiles, birds and mammals. i figured there would be no quick responses to my story, however i did find a lot of videos of various species from herpers, so at least i have a bit of footage from wild ones. instagram messes up video quality on upload, so while it is difficult to even see the pupils at many times and i definitely cant see any consistent size changes (i.e. any communication attempts), at least i can pause it and zoom in on a screenshots to get samples?

We were stoked to find this woma python (Aspidites ramsayi) at Shark Bay in Western Australia, especially since an hour before we had found a freshly killed individual on the same road. This was my second woma find over a two year period which is pretty amazing because I know some Australian herpers have never seen one despite searching for the species on multiple occasions (it’s struggling!). I nearly wrote the car off during this encounter because moments before we spotted it edging onto the road there was another vehicle tailgating us and despite indicating to let it past, the driver decided he or she would remain positioned nice and close while also blinding me in the rear-view mirror with their high beams.
