I was born with vacterl where one of the birth defects is Tracheoesophageal fistula (TEF). TEF / TOF is an abnormal connection in one of more places between the esophagus and the trachea. Normally the trachea and the esophagus are two separate tubes and are not connected. When the baby with TEF swallows, the liquid can pass through the abdominal connection between the esophagus and the trachea. When this happens, the fluid can get into the baby’s lungs causing pneumonia and other problems. My parents tell me when I had this I couldn’t swallow, and would choke and be sick when trying to drink milk, i couldn’t breathe properly and would turn blue and had pneumonia twice. Ces vêtements qui me paraissaient si géant lorsque je les ai acheté... I thought my lyric video was finished. Then I boarded a flight to Philly. I was seated next to a young woman with kind, tired eyes. During the course of our conversation during our short flight, I learned the following: • Her name is Desiree • She was nervous to fly • She was glad to only fly one way • She was helping family move to PA • Her fiancé stayed behind with their three year old, Alexander • Alexander has a heart problem • In the last three years they’ve only spent about 80 days outside of a hospital • I was wrong… my lyric video was not finished. ‘I See You’ is about women SEEING - really noticing - and supporting each other. With so much wrong in the world it’s easy to feel helpless to do much about anything. The little we try can seem like a drop in the bucket of what’s needed. We did our research and found that India has the best technology to do this procedure on babies, because this is a very delicate operation on them. Doctor in India asked us to bring a donor who has A+ve blood group to donate a small part of their liver. But it was really hard to find one. (And he/she can only be a close relative or family member) Later the doctor told us they have the technology to change the blood group of a parent to the one that's required. So I (Father of Shahzain) decided to go for it. My TBT goes to my warrior. August 1, 2023. I had my son at 24 weeks! I never heard of a baby being born at only 24 weeks, yet alone surviving . I cried, I prayed, I was scared, but I never lost my faith. It's really hard to keep faith when the odds are against you but I knew one day he would come home to me. Traveling to the nicu every day spending sleepless nights there, learning different things about him, battling depression, losing my job. I owe it all to God, the beautiful doctors and nurses he blessed us with. 126 days later, and almost 3 months home.. here we are, it's not easy after the nicu but I'm so extremely blessed to have him home. With the minor complications he went through at the nicu & to come home with no oxygen and no complications. I know this was nobody but God. He heard our prayers every day, all day and night. He heard my heart and he saw my effort. I learned so many lessons and learned how to be still and let God do the rest.
