Taking these images had me in tears. Reflecting on it later, it was the heart opening energy of this particular space and the spirits helping us cleanse. I saw nothing but vulnerability and was stunned by everyone’s beauty in this moment. The process of a Balinese water blessing is one of cleansing the mind and soul. Balinese holy water blessing 💦 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This is one of my most treasured memories throughout my trip. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I woke up early that morning and hired a driver to take me to a temple with a holy waterfall nearby where the locals go to pray to the gods and ask for healing in their body and minds. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You pay a small entrance fee, put on a sarong and then make your way into the cold and extremely fresh spring water. You start by praying/setting your intention to the gods. After this you drink the water 3 times and place your head under the waterfall (face first) as long as you can. I prayed again once more, drank the water three more time and then you place yourself under the waterfall once again (this time with your back facing the waterfall). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This was far from a touristy experience and off the beaten track. Definitely something you found out about through word of mouth. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ After the blessing I sat with my driver and he told me the story behind how a man with epilepsy had accidentally discovered the healing powers of this water. He was working nearby and found the water and decided to cool off and after that day he never experienced seizures again. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ These are the kinds of experiences I look for and crave while traveling. Things that show and represent the culture authentically and give me the opportunity to learn and grow through being immersed in something new. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Ps- sorry about the quality of this video, but regardless I though it was worth the share because of the meaning behind it.
