For our last day in Perú, Brett and I rented a motor cycle and drove around to all the different towns, sites, cafes and restaurants. We stopped at the valley where we took the space to have a beautiful commitment ceremony together were we committed to making promises to eachother as we move forward into the next chapter of our relationship. This land has been so special in the way it has held, provided and supported. We included our small offerings(we had to improvise) and a thank you to the land for our time here. We then finished the day arguing over who was taking bigger bites of the crepe we shared 😜 It was the perfect day to finish a month long trip! I truly wouldnt be where I am today without this beautiful man. He believes in me when I don’t, he brings me up when I’m falling down, he smiles when I am being absolutely ridiculous, he makes me smile when it’s the last thing I want to do. Kitty snuggles are not helping my productivity! Eekkk! We leave in the morning for our big Havasupai trip! I’ve been researching this for over a year and soon we’ll be there. This has probably been one of my most stressful planning/prepping trips because we AREN’T taking the kids. Yeah, it’s actually more stressful to leave them not because I’m a helicopter mom (I am definitely not) but because I have to make arrangements for all their various activities. I also didn’t think about it being finals week when I snagged these dates off the transfer list, so I’ve been pushing my homeschooled kids for a few weeks so we can finish early. (We attend a hybrid homeschool charter school.) I’ve also worked five of the last seven days, which is a lot more hours than usual. But the bags are packed, the house is in decent order, audiobooks are downloaded and the truck snack bag is stuffed with yummies that I don’t have to hide from my children. Goodbye to a Suitcase 😂 An end of an era. This is goodbye to a chapter, an acknowledgment of the past. My suitcase broke at the end of my 2 week retreat.. very convenient. Something that may seem so small to others but was actually a huge emotional process for myself. I have had this suitcase for around 15 years, travelling with me all around the world.. It holds memories of my beautiful Nan, friends, partners and family. People who have come and gone, with memories that I hold close to my heart. For me it also represents my growth, how far I have come, for who I was and who I am now with this sense of it being time to move on. Letting go of this piece of luggage brought on feelings of trying to cling to the past and the hesitation to let go. A couple months ago I had the most wonderful adventure with my friend of nearly 25 years to a place we backpacked through 20 years ago: Costa Rica. Today, @judynn and I are smarter, more mature, have more money, and have managed to excel in our careers and create lovely families. But did we have as much fun? Depends on your definition of fun…but this time around we biked through the rainforest, scaled a 100-foot tree, spent lots of time at the spa, drank so much fresh coffee, and ate some incredible meals. As I sit here in my cozy hotel room, clad in red lingerie, I can't help but feel a twinge of sadness. Today was supposed to be a day filled with adventure, exploring Kakadu National Park with my bestie. But life had other plans, and I found myself here instead, unable to join her on our farewell trip. Day 3… started off with meeting locals in their village to hop on horses and ride out to the beach. I’ve ridden a horse before, but never galloping and being so on my own with the horse. The feeling of freedom and just pure joy was indescribable as we walked along the beach side and through the trees and dunes. @equitation_essaouira gave me AMAZING instruction and made me not so scared of the horse, by the end I felt like a pro. Thank you! 🌹 After riding we got ready to go to an art exhibit @beyttmogador and got cute handmade belts. Then we headed to La Medina where there are many restaurants and rooftop bars. 🌹 We ended the night with mixed meat sandwiches..
