At some point the PR streak will stop, but that point was not @eugenemarathon. I was STRUGGLING. Like, legs tired by mile 7 struggling. So thankful for @kristinamucker @shakeitupcc @chocolate_gram at the finish (and as company for a full race weekend!). Also thankful to some complete stranger that basically pulled me through the last mile, and who I fully owe my finish time to. The weather was great and so was the course--so green! My body was strong and every tendon held up *knocks wood*. I finally feel recovered and redeemed from some physical and emotional injuries in 2022! Now I just have some mental strengthening to do before @sydney_marathon in September 😅 gotta add that our lil long run group @luisweezyweez @ktcoralxb @dansley7 @joshua.s.mayer @ryhsuuu @clare.penny @intergalactic.kitteh @slipoker @em_stevens30 @margot__mango and a few others whose IGs I can't find are what got me to the start line at ALL. I haven't trained for a spring marathon since my first in 2019 and winter running in Portland is BRUTAL...unless you're with friends. and as always @stumprunners @deadstockrunclub and @runawaypdx are my go-to safe spaces when I need running company during the week. • Eugene (Half) Marathon 2024 • 1:37:46• Celebrating #medalmonday a day late because I do what I want. The last six months have been A LOT. Between life stress, family tragedy, and some health stuff I had a less than stellar training cycle. Initially I’d hoped this would be a potential PR attempt but trash ferritin levels and an insane sciatica flare had other plans for me. I was able to scrape together a final 6ish weeks of consistent, less painful running and went into Eugene with the goal of trying to run hard and have fun. @the_poppylaura_show and I decided to start the race together and see how things went. I ended up running with Laura the entire race and had the BEST time out there. It felt so good to run strong and pain free for 97 minutes. So while it wasn’t a personal best in time (far from) it was definitely a personal best in having fun and that is always worth celebrating. Race Recap: Simply, I messed up. Executed pre race, nutrition, first mass start in a cold water swim, and bike plans all perfectly....actually even better. Then caught a rock on some technical terrain while in 9th overall resulting in an ankle sprain and that's all she wrote. Thanks to coach @raywatch73 @raymondbotelhofitness for getting me ready. I really thought we had a world qualifying spot locked up. It may be Tuesday, but I missed #medalmonday and I know you’re here for my cooking but running is such a huge part of who I am that I have to share 💗 This weekend I did a big thing. I ran the @ecmarathon Geau Bigger Challenge. What does that mean? Saturday night I ran: 10k ✅ 5k ✅ Sunday morning I ran: Half marathon ✅ This was a redemption race. 2022, I ran walked with the stomach flu (did I throw up on the way to the race and do it anyway…yes, yes I did). 2023, root meniscus tear recovery has me volunteering my heart out 💗 2024: I freaking did it. From the moment I walked into the Eau Claire Marathon expo, I felt like I was home. I cried almost immediately. And the weekend had me cry multiple times. As soon as I arrived for the half this morning, I was again reminded that Eau Claire is something special. I cried lining up and then again as I heard two first time women be in awe of the amount of people running. It’s something else. I’m just so full of joy (and coughs…I mean, it would make sense that I got a cold 4 days ago, right?!) This haphazard decision to “become a runner” is one of the best things I’ve ever done. 💗 Now I’ll be honest, I’m ready to get back to cooking, BUUUTTTT… I’m also training for @grandmasmarathon (the full this time!) so I’m a busy mom and runner and food blogger and teacher and wife 🤪 Thanks for being here and letting me share this huge win. #medalmonday , a day late 💗 You guys, I don’t have the words 🥰🥹 Okay, I do. And I’m going to be long winded, I know it. 10k ✅ 5k ✅ Half marathon ✅ This was a redemption race. 2022, I ran walked with the stomach flu (did I throw up on the way to the race and do it anyway…yes, yes I did). 2023, root meniscus tear recovery has me volunteering my heart out 💗 2024: I freaking did it. From the moment I walked into the Eau Claire Marathon expo, I felt like I was home. I cried almost immediately. And the weekend had me cry multiple times. When you’ve been doing this race for 9 years, it’s like a family reunion. You see these people who just make you feel at home. Hence alll the photos. Running in after the 10k, I had tears as I crossed over the finish line. Then I got to watch my friend @shelleyfro run her first ever race! She won’t be stopping at the 10k 😉 So proud! Thirty minutes later, a 5k. My coach @brightsiderunning said to keep a steady pace between the two races (8:47/mile for one and 8:48/mile for the other.) And speaking of Maria…she took freaking 2nd for women overall. Are you kidding?! As soon as I arrived for the half this morning, I was again reminded that Eau Claire is something special. I cried lining up and then again as I heard two first time women be in awe of the amount of people running. It’s something else. Seeing @coachadamt and practically crossing the finish line with one of the best hype men in the world. The BluGold Mile. Barstow Street. Seeing friends and Matt and my mom and dad Mikki Valona and Jim Eisenman cheer me on with my babies. And seeing the race director @emiuelmen on course multiple times (spy my last photo because it’s the first I took. She fills my heart!). The list could go on and on. I’m just so full of joy (and coughs…I mean, it would make sense that I got a cold 4 days ago, right?!) After yesterday’s #medalmonday post, I was brought back to earth with a bang when the #raceface pictures came out 😱 These must be some of the worst ever, and the second and third images are especially horrific! Running is never about the photos, but there’s always a faint hope that you might not look as terrible as you imagine. Hopes dashed once again! 😂😂😂 On the plus side, I look like I was trying hard (I was), and my arms appear to have some definition, which is pleasing after all the strength work I’ve been doing. They also perfectly capture how rainy and bleak the conditions were, it really was very wet and cold! 💦 I might try and smile a bit more at the next race, I do enjoy it really. 😁

Retour sur le triathlon Xtrem de canne partie 1/3 Bon je me suis fait disputer du coup je développe. L'histoire commence le matin, après une nuit ou j'ai bien dormi, je me sens bien. Réveil à 4 h pour manger mes traditionnels pâte à l'huile d'olive minimum 3h avant le départ pour la digestion. 5h sorti de l'hôtel et la, il pleut des cordes, le morale des copains et le mien tombe. Malgré une météo qui annonce un arrêt de la pluie à 8 h. On instale nos affaire au parc sous la pluie et clairement, je me demande ce que je suis venu faire dans cette galère. 6h15 on monte sur le bateau, et je fini de me préparer à l'intérieur. 6h45 on sort du bateau et la, surprise, il ne pleut plus 🤗🤗 On découvre le ponton dans lequel il va falloir sauter dans une eau à 15 °c et on sens bien que personne n'est pressé. 7h05 le moment de ce jeter à l'eau, je saute et la je suis saisie par le froid. Le visage, les pied les mains ça pique 🥶 Mais une ambiance incroyable monte, ça crie, ça applaudie, et voilà le départ lancer. On est pas très nombreux sur ce format Xtrem, du coup, on a de la place pour nager, j'arrive tous de suite à poser ma nage. On prend les vagues de travers, elles arrivent sur notre droite, par chance je respire à gauche, du coup je le vie plutot bien. Le froid tant redouté ne ce fait pas sentir, je suis super bien et de voir toute ses bouées jaune autour de moi c'est un spectacle incroyable. Je boucle le premier 1000m en un peu plus de 20 min, et le deuxième en 25 min soit 46 min au total A l'arrivée sur la plage il y a du monde, une belle ambiance , je me sent bien, j'ai bien vécu ma natation. This weeks #medalmonday is a reflection on poor life choices 😂 @tedthompson970 and I decided to take on the BC Backyard Ultra in Sicamous for a new challenge. This consists of running a 6.7km loop every hour, starting on the hour, until you dont or you are the last person standing. A silly challenge for sure. Ted did really well, completing 12 laps, 80.4k (50 miles). This wasn’t the main goal for this year and he didnt time out so could have gone a further but at some point you have to think bigger picture and look after your body. With 70.3 Couer D’alene just around the corner and 2 ironmans lurking, the key was to have fun and not come away injured. Special mention to his sister @jaxkwt and dad for being an epic support crew, we were very well cheered and looked after. As soon as he finished he, and @ja_bos , committed to come back next year for 24hrs +. Lets do it! For me this was an interesting challenge. Firstly mentally I struggled. The whole slow and steady and patient thing didnt really work for me and I broke mentally before I broke physically. I broke physically at 11 laps (73km). I had a lot more running in the legs but knee and foot said no (not enough miles in the legs). Only consolation was i did run the fastest lap (not in any way relevant or beneficial but an indication of breaking mentally 😂) The winner ran an astonishing 39 laps/hrs (268k) 🤯🤯🤯 This was a great experience for me but not an event I will do again I dont think. But I will 100% be back to volunteer/support as it was one of the most social, enjoyable and friendly events ive ever been to. Late Medal Monday post! (Big Sur Pt1.) And that’s a wrap! The Big Sur Marathon is over and done with 🙌🏾 Believe in the work that you put in. Always believe in yourself. Step outside of your comfort zone and go after those ambitious goals! This is a very brutal course, and although I did well last year, I wanted a rematch because I felt I could do better. Well, I got my rematch and dominated this course!! Even with this being my 3rd marathon in 2 weeks, it being the hardest course of the 3 (1800 ft. of elevation gain), I was still able to make a deposit in the PR bank today. I’m not going to lie to y’all and say it was easy because I don’t know which was worse, running all those brutal hills or running the downhill sections. My legs felt every step, but my energy and my will were through the roof. All you runners cheering for me helped out TREMENDOUSLY because there was just about no crowd support since spectators aren’t allowed to line up alongside the highway. Also, running alongside a few guys who run for Team Japan, (2:16 marathon guys) was great and it helped a lot for that first 10k. Dominic, the guy who finished 2nd overall today, and I worked together flawlessly from the very beginning until a little after mile 25 when I started having really, really bad stomach cramps and pain. I slowed down slightly to fight through the stomach pain, but after crossing that finish line, I just threw up everywhere. Right in front of everyone 😩😭. I can truly say I left everything I had on the course today. I’m beyond happy with how everything went!! I missed #medalmonday, so how about #tshirttuesday! Back in 2011, I met @ladyofthesouthrunner through a local running group in GA. I was training for my first full and she was new to running, but wanted to run a half in all 50 states. We began meeting up at 5:30am to run before our work days started and we bonded over all things running. After I finished my marathon training, I ran my first Peachtree Road Race with Michelle and we went on to run several more together until Covid changed things up. Michelle moved to Florida, but we stayed in touch. Then I moved to Indiana, but we stayed in touch. I don’t remember specifically when I decided I would run a half with her, but last year as she was telling me the states she had left, I knew I had better hurry up and join her before she finished them. I knew I wanted to join her in a state I’d never been to, and with only a few options left, I decided on Eugene, OR. I hadn’t run a half since 2011 (and that was really a training run for my full), so I knew I had my work cut out for me to train. Luckily, my new local running groups are super active and many of those ladies were training for a half the same weekend as the race I would be running. This weekend was that race in Eugene. While the travel there and back was a little rough, everything else came together so perfectly. It rained nearly the entire time we were there, besides when we ran the race. The crowd support in Eugene was fantastic. The course was flat and scenic and ended on the track in Hayward Field(epic)! The medals are some of the coolest ones I’ve seen (the local high school woodworking students made part of them from the old stadium). I ended up staying with a total stranger (Hi, @ml_berlin!) at an Airbnb we booked the week before that was right on the marathon course and a killer deal compared to the original hotel we had booked further away. All in all, it was the perfect race to run with Michelle! Após cruzar a linha de chegada e esperar pelo Di completar os 21k, soltei a frase: “Hoje não foi difícil, tirando o vento contra na beira rio, cheguei bem!”. E essa foi a verdade, não foi difícil (bom, talvez só um pouquinho 😄), porque cada desafio nos torna mais resilientes! Sabemos disso, não é? Prima gara in questa categoria così agguerrita, pronti partenza e via, inizia così la prima gara della stagione. Conduco per i primi km in 4°/5° posizione, alla prima discesa provo il sorpasso che va a buon fine piazzandomi in seconda posizione, e mantenuta fino quasi alla fine. Le gambe giravano bene, e durante la gara le sensazioni sono sempre state positive. Wieder mal ein #medaltuesday statt #medalmonday. Ein wunderbarer, für mich wahnsinnig anstrengender Lauf liegt hinter mir. Der Langebahn-Lauf in Suhl hat es in sich mit mit seinen Auf-und Abstiegen. Es musste dee 34k Lauf sein, wie bereitet man sich sonst auf den #rennsteiglauf vor? Es ist alles so familiär, jeder grüsst früh morgens, man muss nicht ewig zum Start laufen und es gibt doch nichts Schöneres als durch den Wald zu laufen 🌳🏃🏻♀️🌲, oder? Nicht nur wir waren beim Marathon in Hamburg unterwegs, sondern natürlich auch unsere Gewinnspiel-Gewinnerin @runbimska. 🥳 Franzi: „Einfach wow! Ich hab’s so geliebt. Ich hatte 42km Spaß. Die Stimmung war unglaublich, mein absolutes Highlight waren die Landungsbrücken und der anschließende Tunnel, in dem die Läufer*innen plötzlich alle angefangen haben zu jubeln und zu klatschen, so ein magischer Moment! Ich hatte keine Erwartungen, bin einfach nach Gefühl losgelaufen und es ging so leicht. Hab mich die ganze Zeit gefragt, wann ich einbreche und guess what? Das ist nicht passiert! Ich habe meine Zeit vom letzten Marathon vor einem halben Jahr um 23 Minuten unterboten und bin mit konstant gelaufenen 3:44 Stunden ins Ziel geflogen. Meine Rakete, Hannah, ist einfach ihren ersten Marathon in 3:23 gelaufen und ich könnte nicht stolzer auf sie sein! Domingo de BJX @bjxmediomaraton Acompañando esta vez a 3 de mis entrenados, la pendiente en ruta, revisando y dando instrucciones cuando hizo falta, pero sin participar en la carrera 📝 Hace poco más de un año @aldofigue9 llegó sin correr nada a entrenar con el equipo y en este tiempo se ha vuelto fuerte y resistente. Lo vi acabar sus 10 kilómetros sobrepasando mi estimación y hacerlo contento, con un ritmo sostenido hasta el final, en que le metió al cierre 🔥😎 Allá por noviembre empezamos a entrenar con @felipedejesusprado para conquistar su 2o. maratón (nada menos que el @maratoncapitalgto ) y mejorar tiempos, cosa que logramos, y ahora el entrenamiento también se reflejó en mejorar su récord personal en 1/2 maratón: bajamos de 1:45! 💃🏽 Hace poco más de 6 meses acompañé en los últimos km de su primer 1/2 maratón a @m.urbiola y la Vi batallar hasta llegar a la meta. ¡Qué diferente fue verla correr enterita este, su segundo medio! ¡Y además bajarle también casi 20 minutos a su récord anterior! Muchas disciplina y compromiso que dieron sus réditos 📝 Unas semanas antes de este evento comenzó a acompañarnos en entrenamientos, desde León, @zussieuve , entrenada del equipo @aho_multisport_ . La vi darle a los entrenamientos con ganas y con disposición y excelente actitud ante el reto de mejorar su tiempo en 1/2... Y no solo logró su objetivo, sino que lo sobrepasó más allá de lo esperado. Cuatro corredores y algo de sus historias y logros, que he podido acompañar últimamente, no solo para guiar, sino para aprender y sorprenderme con lo que alcanzan. Sus logros son personales, sí, pero también son ejemplos e inspiración para quienes formamos @aho_queretaro y todo @aho_endurance ¡Felicidades, corredores! ¡Que vengan más kilómetros, aprendizajes y aventuras! . . . #running #runningteam #MedalMonday #Maratón

Fueron unos grandes 21km después de todo... ¡Soy Maratonista! Después de años de esfuerzo y dedicación, he corrido mi primer maratón. Quiero agradecer a mi entrenadora @angelicamg45 por su constante apoyo, a todos los que me alentaron en el camino, y especialmente a @thadeusilvassj , quien corrió a mi lado en los momentos más difíciles. Pero sobre todo, gracias al Señor. Este es el resultado de más de una década de sacrificios, lesiones, cambios de ciudad y largas horas de entrenamiento.
