No weather could dampen our spirits last Saturday when Catamount Institute and @peakeducationcos went to @cheyennemountainzoo ! The zoo staff was immensely gracious and wonderful, and the animals and exhibits were top-notch, as ever! The students got to do a service project for the zoo keepers behind the scenes as well. Excursion #3 with my Mother-in-Love. Friday, April 5, 2024 📍Pikes Peak 📍Garden of the Gods Park 📍Cheyenne Mountain Zoo 🏔️ Pikes Peak- we didn’t get to summit the whole mountain. They had it closed from about 12,000ft due to all of the snow. Still beautiful nonetheless. 🪨 Garden of the Gods- we ate a picnic lunch and enjoyed some of the views. I’ve been here about 4 times now and so eh..kinda tired of it (just like the State Capitol of Texas!😅) but glad my MIL was able to see it. 🦒 Cheyenne Mountain Zoo- we got to feed the giraffes, see baby meerkats, and 2 baby wallabies in the moms pouches. I love animals and I want to own a zoo one day. Happy National Ferret Day! I want to highlight one of North Americas most endangered mammals, the Black Footed Ferret. They were given a second chance at survival due to the breeding efforts of several zoos including, Louisville Zoo, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, San Diego Zoo, Phoenix Zoo and the National Zoo. Thanks to there efforts over 300 Black Footed Ferrets have been released to the wild, but according to biologists we need a population of 3,000 ferrets to have a healthy population.
