A lot of lovely things about this photo... My paint covered coveralls, palette and hands. The paint barnacle encrusted paint knife, built up of so many recent artworks. I love the hint of my finger tattoo TMRW and how my hands are painterly and strong. I love the front porch railing. A peekaboo underneath it all, splattered with paint and varnish from years of chasing the sun for the perfect natural lighting.. I am obsessed with this painting, not finished yet but will be on the morrow. My friend @jenkroeger_art said it was giving Beltane Vibes and I got goosebumps and the back of my head got tight lol That's so appropriate and I love it, this piece was crowned Bright Fire because of Beltane, which is May 1st and symbolic of the ending of spring and beginning of summer. Now inspired for my next Goddess, the May Queen is up the moment I finish this. I love the story the photo doesn't show, but tells. An artist, the neighborhood surely must whisper about, messy and manic, fumbling with the door knob, also covered in a rainbow of acrylic paint, juggling the door, the still wet painting and tools, gingerly kicking open the door and hissing at the cat, hurrying the dogs to come out lest they start barking... drawing further attention to the crazy lady on the front porch... mysteriously taking photos, semi incognito behind overgrown jasmine and a white washed rail. Cut off converse or old flip flops. Comfortable and unconcerned. Glasses slipping down her yellow pink streaked cheeks, hair half up and half down...humming perhaps, sometimes I do. Or of you listen a bit caught up in the most intriguing self chatter. Fully immersed in her practice. In love with life and creation. After all Everything is Art ❤️

The sun is shining ☀️ hurray 🙌🏻, as an interior designer I am always asked what is my house like. So this week I am sharing a few shots of my home. I would say our home is a sanctuary, a place to relax but it’s also a very practical space as I have two children 6 & 8 and it’s much their house as mine, it very much reflects us all. I am not one to follow trends it’s very much from the heart and I choose pieces that bring us joy. The shot for today is taken in the living room, and looks towards a space in the house, which is a sitting area where you can sit and relax with a glass of wine . However it’s also place for all my sons Lego sets 🤣 I love colour and texture and in this shot you can see a very dark wall which is actually fabric (yes the same fabric as you can see on the cushion) swipe left to see close up. Morning sunshine streaming through the windows of my East facing pink sitting room 💫 It’s the orientation of a room that affects the light inside it and influences the colours best to decorate with. East facing is fabulous for morning activities - perfect as a Breakfast Room or sitting area for a cup of tea and a break. As the day goes on, light will decrease and become more grey. To counteract this, I’ve chosen a warm plaster pink hue. So later in the day this room becomes cosy and welcoming. And in the evening, with curtains drawn and table lamps on (no overhead lights in here!), it is cocooning and relaxing. Light the fire and it’s hard to leave…even to go to bed. One day I will train myself into a healthy sleep routine. Every night I think... tonight is the night I fall asleep before midnight! Never happens... 11:45pm... reading/scrolling or planning for work 12:45am... oh let me just read 2 pages of my book. 1:05am... oh I left clothes in the washing machine. 1:20am... checking 6yr old isn’t falling out her bed. 1:35am... really tired now, picks up book read a chapter.. fall asleep with book in my face. I never knew just how popular these painted brushes would be when I painted the first few a couple of years ago. I was just looking for other ways to recycle studio supplies and happend to see an old brush on my table and painted it. That brush and all the ones after it sold pretty quickly!! Is it because they are little? Or because they are interesting? Maybe because they are SO cute, or the perfect size for gifting? Or is it because they are collectable? Can be propped up anywhere, used as a gift tag or addition to the perfect art gift bag? Whatever the reason, you guys love them!
