Instead, I see the Corporate Human full of stories of humanity; individual journeys in often transgenerational context. The narratives of persevering prevail. Over the last six years, I have encountered individuals engaged in tireless efforts seeking social change and a more equitable society. In this exhibition, I celebrate the diversity of the Corporate Human through portraits that empower. "Yesterday, I was watching a documentary about tishmurtha and her work is truly inspiring. I'm deeply moved by documentary photography, where the photographer is immersed in the community being photographed. In fact, the photographer becomes merely a conduit for telling the story. As they say in the documentary, 'to take those photos, you have to be part of the tribe, you have to dance with the tribe.' So, I revisited a documentary project I've been working on since 2017, documenting the Notting Hill Carnival. 🌟 Wednesday of Portraits 🌟 Today holds a special significance for me as the HP UK&I Multicultural BRG releases the 16th Issue of Portrait of HP, dedicated to the inspiring journey of @jennie_mack_xoxo 💙 The introduction of PoHP, starts in this way: "For some time now, Jennifer and I had wanted to collaborate to create portraits that told stories, that said something, that made us think and reflect. By the virtue of a coincidence or you name it, this 16th volume of Portrait of HP falls on the same date as Jennifer's tenth anniversary at HP. A decade ago we shared the HP induction course (me transferring from HP Mexico to HP UK&I). I have this vivid memory of not being able to grasp all she was telling me, partly due to her lovely and peculiar accent, and partly because of my limited English proficiency at the time. My main takeaway from that conversation was her passion about horses.” After recounting various stories and anecdotes in this Issue, we conclude with a tribute to Jennifer's enduring passions. "Finally, Jennifer shared her love for horses with me. After 10 years, I finally confirmed I had understood her correctly. And those who know him can attest that he always has a good conversation, and you typically end up with a smile on your face. For several months, we had been attempting to capture an interesting photo, but for those who know me, posed photos during events aren't exactly my forte. Now, this photo is a bit different as it's right when Jez is stepping onto the stage to receive an award at the HP UK&I kick-off.... Wednesday of Portraits I would like to take a moment to share a special photograph with you all. This image was captured a couple of years ago during the inaugural "JumpIN festival," the First Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) event in HP UK&I. In this picture, I'm joined by David Prezzano, a great leader who has played an instrumental role in supporting and formalizing the "Portrait of HP" project. Through this initiative, we've been able to showcase the diversity within HP and empower our colleagues through the art of photography. This photograph holds significant meaning for me for several reasons: -Dave has been a staunch ally in our DE&I efforts and has guided us in creating a safe and inclusive environment through our Business Resource Groups (BRGs). -The JumpIN festival marked a pivotal moment in our journey towards fostering a more inclusive workplace. The Magnum Photographer Philippe Halsman in his work Jumpology described the act of photograph people jumping as: “In a jump, the subject, in a sudden burst of energy, overcomes gravity. He cannot simultaneously control his expressions, his facial and his limb muscles. The mask falls. The real self becomes visible. One has only to snap it with the camera.” -It serves as a reminder of the power of images to preserve memories and shape our collective identity within HP. Wednesday of Portraits. Tomorrow, on February 29th, the HP UK&I Multicultural BRG will be releasing the 15th volume of 'Portrait of HP: MEXICO.' However, today I can reveal the cover to you 😊 This volume revisits my origins and, to paraphrase Chavela Vargas’s song, aims to “recall that place where I used to love life”. For this purpose, I interviewed and took portraits of three colleagues I have known since my earliest years in HP, approximately 20 years ago. Not only are all three important to my professional career, but also are much admired on a personal level. I was touched by how Rocío Sandoval, Lorena Prado Montes De Oca and Adriana Guerra Villagomez opened up and shared pieces of their lives for this Issue of Portrait of HP. Talking about the conversations with Adriana; she shared her life story alongside HP, where in good times, but most importantly in bad times, she has realised how vital it is to be able to rely on HP as an employer, but also and most importantly, on HP as a community of people who provide loving support. We had that special bond with Adriana, since her grandmother of 104 years old, was her inspiration and a role model. Her nana, whose portrait Adriana is holding on the front cover, was full of stories of life and survival amid Mexican revolution. This 15th issue of Portrait of HP lets us get a glimpse of cultures of Mexico, where it is sensible to expect the unexpected, where the mind meets the heart, and where the senses perceive the unspeakable. For this issue of PoHP, Sophie Hendry wrote a beautiful text about Helen. 💙 I share a condensed version of the text: “Helen, Super Mum, Unsung Hero, CRN Winner of “Marketing Manager of the year 2022” … these are just a few ways to describe Helen. I think Helen is inspiring because she always goes above and beyond, as a manager but also to support people. Helen is a very dedicated HP Programs Lead and always works hard to support the Channel, with a high level of work ethic and energy. Helen always has a smile on her face and a strong ‘can do’ attitude to work, which is why she is so highly regarded in our Partner community. Helen is very selfless, never promoting her own success and always pushing her team forward for recognition and promotion. I saw this first hand when I was in her team as a new graduate. Helen always made me feel valued and heard, but also was nurturing and kind, pushing me and the team forward for projects that promised skill development and recognition. Having Helen as a manager in my early career, has helped shape me professionally and I am very grateful to have had her mentorship. I got the chance to spend a lot of time with younger humans over the past 2 years. And it’s been quite a learning experience. I noticed their level of confidence and self esteem, their openness to a diversity of topics and experiences and their distinct views regarding the corporate world. This took me on a journey of introspection and taught me to 🛞 Steer away from perfectionism and enjoy the process. ☝🏻 Believe in myself no matter how little I knew.
