Week 3 & 4 of the Country Cottage CAL 🧶 . My Mum picked up a lot of slack with these ones. The day after Sixpence was put to sleep, I came downstairs, sat on the sofa and asked my Mum “Now what?”, like what did we do?, I then moved to sit on the same sofa as her and that’s where I spent the day, as she crocheted some squares, my contribution to the cal (or anything yarny) that day was purely to remind her how to do stitches or tell her where to put them. Then I’d said I would do the trio of ducks, I thought it was fairer for me to do because of all the strands (the same reason I did the 4 sheep, although with them being vertical there wasn’t the same amount of working strands), but I came home from work one day and she’d started it, she did offer it back to me a few times, but I declined 😂 . My Mum had started the week 4 squares before finishing the big one of week 3, hence why it became a duo post, it bugged me that we weren’t working in order, which my Mum has then reminded me when I started the week 6 squares before I’ve done any week 5… I like routine… but there’s only one green ball so we couldn’t both be doing week 5 squares, anyway you’ll see why in my next update post 😄 . I took this photo last Friday, (& had to borrow my Mum’s crochet hook that she was using for the flatlay 😆), but I’d forgotten I hadn’t actually finished my squares, and had to finish my paler berry stitch one just before 🙈 I’d left it needing a new soft green attaching after I’d ran out 😅 . My #finishedobjectfriday is this gilet/vest. I designed it for the Hobbii Natural Beauty Challenge by @hobbii_yarn which is about taking inspiration from nature. You may have seen my progress shots earlier this week, but I still needed inspiration for joining the seams and for some textured pretty edging. Well, it came to me last night and I quickly got on with finishing this simple but cosy garment. Scroll through for a close up of the pretty edging I eventually chose. It's full of texture! English below De dag na thuiskomst was het natuurlijk gelijk weer tijd om te haken... dat is iets dat je dan toch mist zo'n hele week zonder garen en/of lapjes. 😁 De bedoeling was om de babydeken voor Rodney en Lysanne nog voor de vakantie af te krijgen, maar dat was net niet gelukt... dat betekende dat ik nu dus nog maar een klein stukje van de rand hoefde te haken en klaar! 🥰 Het patroon van Tory Pace had ik gevonden op Ravelry en was voor een vierkante deken, maar Rodney vond een rechthoek toch eigenlijk mooier dus heb ik er zelf maar wat randen bij gehaakt. Het is nu meer de maat voor een ledikantje geworden. Het garen is Stylecraft special DK van @stylecraftyarns Zo... en wat zal ik nu eens gaan doen? Maar eens even over nadenken. 🤔❤️ . 🇬🇧 The day after returning home it was of course time to crochet again... that's something you miss after a whole week without yarn and/or patches.😁 The intention was to finish the baby blanket for Rodney and Lysanne before the holidays, but that just didn't work out... which meant that I now only had to crochet a small piece of the edge and I was done! 🥰 I found the Tory Pace pattern on Ravelry and it was for a square blanket, but Rodney actually liked a rectangle better, so I crocheted some more edges myself. It has now become more like a crib size. The yarn is Stylecraft special DK from @stylecraftyarns So... and what am I going to do now? I recently bought this lovely Butterfly 🦋 100% acrylic yarn from @hobbii_yarn It's a colour changing yarn so I'm trying to use it quite creatively to make a Hexicardigan for myself. . To mix the colours up, I'm alternating rows by using the middle of the skein and the start of the skein to add a bit of variety. It's beautiful, soft yarn with a lovely sheen, but it does tangle easily! 🧶 . Week 2 of the Country Cottage CAL at almost the start of Week 5 🤦🏼♀️ I was waiting for my Mum to finish the bobbley square and to then put the border on it… she’d skipped ahead tried a bit of week 3, not finished that either and skipped ahead again to making a duck square for week 4… I’ve kept on at her to do it and then last night when I was putting my Dad some towels out ready for him to have a shower I grabbed the bobbley square, the white yarn and her hook for her to finish that… & I suppose because of all that was going on (🐰) she said she’d do it for me ☺️ . Now this bit is just notes I’d made of that week 2 so let’s hope it makes sense without me thinking too much now, I’d been telling my Mum she crochets like she’s being threatened (tense)… & week 1 I told her “we’re making a blanket not Brillo pads” 😂 . Mum said several times the tapestry crochet is “going out the window, literally”… but she perceived & did a carrot, it’s a little smaller than mine but we’ll block it, and it’s all practice & learning 🧶 Also week one my mum said about when she does the granny squares and me not wanting holes in the centre, hers generally have a more noticeable centre hole, but that can be sorted when she does her ends… and the ends are piling up! 🙈 . This was my first attempt at a sunburst granny and I am in love, although I still need to work a bit on my tension.
