I’ve always felt like nothing comes easy to me; I’ve had to work really hard for everything that I have. I never was “the best at anything.” I wasn’t a star player in field hockey; I sat on the bench a lot. I did well in school, but I didn’t get a 4.0. I had to study twice as hard as other people to maintain my grades. It took me several years to get into vet school and I had to study outside of the country. None of it came easy. I worked my ass off to get where I am! I don’t shy away from challenging work. Working hard makes me feel accomplished. Becoming an entrepreneur wasn’t something I set out to do. But once I decided to do it, I was all in. I’ve given it my heart and soul; I’ve learned and grown through the process. I’ve stumbled along the way and learned a lot about myself and the industry. I was recently asked, what is one moment of entrepreneurship that has made me proud? Most recently I would say helping my newest consultant earn two bonuses. These bonuses might not seem like a big deal to everyone but earning them has helped her gain confidence and has shown her that she can be profitable with this business. To see her excitement really does fill my heart with pride. 🥹 After all, it’s all the small accomplishments and moments that make life so wonderful. I thought I would be further along in my business by now. I’ve been running my skincare business for eight years. I would have thought by now, I would be matching my veterinary salary, or at least have the free Lexus parked in my driveway. But that’s not my reality. Do some people get to those milestones quicker than I have? Yes they do. Is it the vast majority? Absolutely not. It is very few people that can rise to those ranks quickly. And quite frankly, a lot of those that do shoot to the top fast, burn out and leave. Because it’s not sustainable. I’ve learned that slow and steady wins the race in this industry. At least for me. I may not be exactly where I want to be financially yet, but I’m growing as a person through this business every day. They say that network marketing is a personal growth journey with a compensation plan attached. And there is a reason for that saying. I’ve not met anyone who has stayed in this business that hasn’t grown personally. And quite frankly, that’s why most of us stay. Most of the network marketers I’ve met are not millionaires. But they have all gained something that is worth so much more. They have learned about themselves, and they have learned the beauty of personal growth. So even though I haven’t hit all the milestones and ranks I’ve wanted to yet, I am continuing to grow through helping others. I help others learn about personal growth. I help others earn extra income. I help others transform their skin and their lives for the better. I’ve learned that there truly is more to life than hitting all the milestones I’ve set out to achieve. It’s not just about the destination. It’s about the journey. Recently I was hanging out with a bunch of people at our annual camping/volleyball reunion. I kept hearing people say “I’m too old for this”. The thing is, you can define your age or you can let your age define you. I work with a lot of people who are 10-25 years younger than me and I’m likely fitter than all of them. They eat takeout every day, don’t exercise, some smoke. I think I could take most of them in a fight. 🥊 🏃🏼♀️ 🤜 😵💫🏋️♀️ 😆 If you say you’re too old for something, it’s just an excuse. You don’t know how long your life will be. You could die at 45 or live until 110. You don’t know how long you will get, but you do get to choose how you want to live. Don’t let someone else tell you how to do it. Don’t tell others how to live but don’t let them define how you live either. If you want to let your hair turn gray at age 30, go for it. If you want pink hair at 90, kudos to you. But don’t tell me that just because I’m 51 that I’m too old for anything. That’s up to me. I’ve got one life to live and I’m living it my way! How are you going to live yours?
𝓓𝓲𝓭 𝔂𝓸𝓾 𝓴𝓷𝓸𝔀 9 𝓸𝓾𝓽 𝓸𝓯 10 𝓹𝓮𝓸𝓹𝓵𝓮 𝓯𝓪𝓲𝓵 𝓲𝓷 𝓷𝓮𝓽𝔀𝓸𝓻𝓴 𝓶𝓪𝓻𝓴𝓮𝓽𝓲𝓷𝓰. That’s right. But also, 9 out of 10 new restaurants fail too, in fact 9 out of 10 of all startups fail. Why is that? I can’t speak for all of the other industries, but for network marketing I think it is because of people’s expectations. People are looking for a lottery ticket, a get-rich-quick system. That’s not what this is. I’ve had people join me in business and have done nothing! Like not even tried, not even talked to one person about it. I’ve had people join my team who never even gave themselves a chance. Maybe they got scared. Maybe it overwhelmed them. So, I’m here to tell you. This is not a scam, but it’s not get-rich-quick either. It’s also not a job. It’s a business. And as with most businesses, it is hard in the beginning to get off the ground. Yes I said it, it is not easy!! Simple, yes but not easy. You do have to work at it. You don’t have to put in a ton of time but you do have to talk to people to find out if they have a need for what we have. I mean it’s “network marketing” so networking (yes talking to other humans) is part of it. But if you put in the time, you can be very successful and you can build a thriving business. A business that makes money while you sleep. A business that can give you the flexibility to work around your family. One that you don’t have to ask for vacation time off from. One that will help you grow in ways you never thought possible. One that will change your life. After all, nothing in life worth getting is easy right? What have you worked hard on that has paid off?
When I began my business, my biggest fear was starting conversations. I struggled with this for years at kids’ school events & vet conferences. I felt like that shy kid sitting alone at lunch in middle school. It was really hard for me to make friends. I remember thinking, how am I going to be successful at Network Marketing when I’m scared to talk to people? I actually looked into hypnosis as a way to get over the fear of talking to people. Around that time on my drive to work, I started noticing a woman jogging every day. Every day, rain or shine, cold or hot, weekdays or weekends, I would pass her on my drive. For months on end, I noticed her. I found her extremely inspiring! I started to think, she is exactly the kind of person I would love to join me in biz, someone who is dedicated and consistent and knows that hard work leads to results. But I couldn’t just stop her and talk to her could I? I had learned about stepping outside of my comfort zone. I knew I had a gift that could bless others. So, I decided, I was going to stop her one day and tell her what an inspiration she was. Then I started making excuses, getting in my own head, talking myself out of it. One morning I decided, today is the day. When I saw her, I said to myself, pull over there, and then…I drove right by her. Aggh, why did I chicken out? What was I scared of? I told myself to stop being a wuss! What’s the worse that could happen? So, shaking, I turned my car around. I stopped her & told her what an inspiration she was. The smile that appeared on her face melted away all my fears away. She was touched, I had made her day!! Getting back in my car I was elated! I was so proud of myself for pushing through my fear. Not just for my own growth, but because I had brought joy to someone else. I still think of this moment from time to time when I get scared of the thought of doing something. I remind myself, that if I can make someone else feel that good with a small complement, then I have something worth saying. What’s a fear that you’ve struggled with and how are you working through it?
𝐌𝐘 𝐋𝐎𝐕𝐄/𝐇𝐀𝐓𝐄 𝐑𝐄𝐋𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐏 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇 𝐒𝐎𝐂𝐈𝐀𝐋 𝐌𝐄𝐃𝐈𝐀. I guess you could say, I was late to the game with social media. I was one of those holdouts that didn't want other people seeing what was going on in my life. I would have considered myself much more introverted back then. But, after having my second baby, I decided I needed to share photos of my kids with out of state friends and family, so I gave in and got a Facebook page. Once I dove in, I really started enjoying how social helped me connect with old friends. And bonus, I was actually introduced to my business on Facebook and started using it as a way to grow my biz. But you guys, I did it all wrong. I know I was spammy and salesey and annoying. I didn't know any better. I was unfriended and probably blocked by some. But I won't apologize for those mistakes. Those mistakes helped me grow as a person. I never knew what personal development was before my business. Now I know that personal growth is essential for me to enjoy my life to the fullest. And learning and growing from our mistakes is an amazing part of the journey of life right? Now I love to use social media as a way to not only connect with other like-minded people but to share my personal growth journey in the hopes of helping others. I enjoy providing value, showing compassion and support, discussing my values and making others laugh. And, through my business, I love helping ambitious women who struggle living paycheck to paycheck get ahead with the support of an empowering community so they can live life on their terms. A few days late but better late than never. 2022 wasn’t the year I would’ve assumed it to be on December 31, 2021. It’s interesting how one of the most adventurous and exciting years of my life was also, easily, the hardest year of my life. A lot of great memories were made, and I met a few people that I hope I remain close to for the rest of my life. There were also just as many hard times in 2022, lots of lessons to be learned. And quite honestly I’m not sure I found the lesson to be learned in each of those hard times… Neverthless I am grateful. I am grateful for my family — immediate, extended and in-law — and I am grateful for those I can call friends. I am grateful for love even when it’s followed by heartache, happiness even when it’s followed by sorrow, and joy even when it’s followed by pain. How would we recognize the good if we never experienced the bad? In 2022 I got the extremes of both and I wouldn’t change a thing about it. I think that’s the most valuable lesson I learned: the joy that comes from love, adventure, faith and diligence far outweighs the pain of heartache, loss, fear and weakness. I know that 2023 has plenty more lessons for me to learn. I just hope that I have these people by my side during the highs and lows of it.
