This week 💖 1. Shopping and freezing 🥶 Almost communion ready. How is this happening? For the first time ever, I am not doing the food. It will be such a change not to smell and feel good 😌🤣 2. What is the purpose of rainy days? Aside from the obvious....it's time to reflect, to sit with the thoughts, the feelings, the 'stuff' you never get time to process.... and allow it. There's no outside sunshine to call you out to play, fewer fun distractions. It's time to cosy up, nurture yourself & feel the feels. Life is about balance. We need the sunshine that we're all craving as much as the positive spins we put on life....but ....we all need some time to sit in the rain and let it wash away anything we're ready to let go of so we're fresh & fully ready for those soon-to-come sunny days ☀️ Free from the baggage that's physically, mentally or emotionally holding us back, so we can embrace new experiences in their entirety, without past fears and old stories telling us how things are gonna go down We can see things as they are in the moment, enjoy the now, as it is & enjoy the ride without nagging doubts & 'what if's' What are you ready to let go of today? What are you ready to truly feel in its entity? Write it down, all of it, in it's full & bare form....the things you would never tell a soul.... Take a deep breath, then slowly, breathe out release it & let it go💖 **The science bit** Did you know the human body stores unprocessed emotions? It's known to cause the development of physical disease from musculoskeletal problems, digestive disorders, autoimmune conditions & even heart disease and cancer. The unprocessed emotions are things we don't even realise we're feeling in the rush of life or through subconscious avoidance-the brain's way of protecting us from experiencing pain that we've never know or learned how to safely feel & recover from. It creates tension within the body, developing into Inflammation & can lead to the development of disease. Mindful journalling is just one tool that can help process stored emotion....write about your experience, how you truly felt (not how you think you 'should' feel/have felt) then breathe, cry, sing scream or shout, shake your body....whatever you need to release it, then return to your calm breath, stretch & feel lighter It's useful to practice this with less intense feelings & experiences to start💖

One of the ways we treat depression at Thrive Wellbeing Centre is through Art Therapy, Play Therapy, and Sandtray Therapy. These creative therapies are a wonderful alternative, especially when people struggle verbally expressing themselves. Children and adolescents tend to respond well to these types of treatments, regardless of their creative abilities. What is sandtray therapy? A therapist provides the client with a tray filled with sand and miniature toys. The client uses the sand and toys to create their own microcosm or place. The scene created is used to help allow the client to resolve conflicts and remove obstacles.

I have a “love hate” relationship with social media. Most of the time I don’t like it. Why? Because it’s a dumping ground for humans to criticize, complain and spread hate. That’s not me. I don’t want to engage in or anywhere near that stuff. If it’s a negative post, I just scroll past, trying to find something of value where I’m lifted up out of the grimy and yucky world. Many times I’ve been tempted to completely walk away from all social media and delete my accounts. But then one of my friends will reach out and say how grateful they are that I made them smile, laugh or feel uplifted because of something I posted. Then I know there is a purpose to social media. It can be a place where we go to feel good and to help one another through this freaking hard life. So I stay.
