May is coming! And a new month means a new group of decks up to the plate! As you can imagine, with a deck collection that is over 5k strong, there's a method to my madness when it comes to the decks I choose to work with each month. My paying clients, of course, have the opportunity to choose any deck from my collection that they'd like for their reading, but for the readings I do for the public and for myself? Let’s talk about preparation, Part I. I do a three day prep for any kind of heavy reading day, like the upcoming and exciting event by @evalynesgardengate and @amaris_starseed for Beltane later this week. The idea is to do concentrated and potent psychic preparation so as to clean the instrument of my will and mind, so my readings will be accurate, clear, and will not further debilitate my energy centers, which are already battered daily by depression and chronic illnesses. This prep helps me recuperate faster and make the day smooth. Day one, today, is about refreshing and resetting my divination tools. I’ll help my decks “rest” by organizing them by suit and putting the Major Arcana in order. I’ll take an old toothbrush and carefully clean my crow oracle. I’ll mix my spit (witch’s spit being a classic spell ingredient for willpower) and whiskey to anoint the amulets I intend to wear on the day. All of this while drinking a mushroom and chamomile tea with vanilla for psychic enhancement. And then I’ll take a mushroom-derived annointing oil and deep clean my mind palace through meditation. That’s all for day one, though.
