Wenn man in Sagres in den einzigen Bus Richtung Norden steigt und sich mit der linken Schulter zum Fenster setzt, sieht man, wenn man sich auf die kleinen LĂźcken zwischen den eng aneinandergereihten Häusern konzentriert, ein letztes Mal einen kleinen Streifen blau, bevor die Landschaft von grĂźnen HĂźgel bestimmt wird. Wenn man im Bus sitzen bleiben kann und auf direktem Weg nach Lissabon fährt, braucht man 5 Stunden, wenn man in Lagos umsteigen muss, 7. Ich sitze bis zur ersten Pause im Schneidersitz und versuche, die Erlebnisse der letzten Tage zu ordnen. Es fĂźhlt sich an, als wĂźrde das Ganze hier nur ein besonders lebhafter Traum sein, ich fĂźhle mich fiebrig - Licht und Schatten, die Wolken spiegeln sich auf dem Tejo, als wir Ăźber die Ponte 25 de Abril fahren. Wenn ich zu lange rausschaue, muss ich meine Augen mit meinen Händen bedecken, wenn ich die Gardine zuziehe, bleibt nur noch ein kleiner Spalt, um rauszuschauen. Das, was ich sehe, verspricht Moment-Melancholie, weil ich weiĂ, dass ich mich später hieran erinnern werde, es verspricht Abenteuer, Neugierde: Eine Stadt eingekapselt in Wärme, es leuchtet, ich glĂźhe. Statt 7 Stunden bin ich gefĂźhlte 10 unterwegs, nichts soll die nächsten Tage so kommen, wie ich mir das vorgestellt habe. Und weil doppelt besser hält, gleich zwei Diagnosen: Grippe und ein gebrochener Finger. Wenn ich jetzt daran denke, dass ich in Lissabon nichts auĂer Ărzte, Krankenhäuser und Apotheken gesehen habe, werde ich traurig und mĂźde, bin enttäuscht. I have been an overthinker all my life. I used to jokingly say that if i ever wrote a book, I would title it âThe Art of overthinking Overthinkingâ (no, I did not write it twice by mistake) If there is one statement I would have heard the most number of times, it would be âDont overthink itâ, well, if only it was as simple as that. Regardless of the many demons that overthinking supposedly brings along, I have somehow learnt to make peace with it (cant say the same about those around me) There is some kind of calm it brings me amongst the chaos, thereâs a certain joy that accompanies the moment when others exclaim, âWho could have thought this would happen?â and I, with a quiet confidence, think to myself, âWell, I did.â Itâs not about boasting or reveling in the chaos but finding comfort in the familiarity of my own thoughts. Dont get me wrong, Im not being an overthinking advocate. Im aware all too well of the unnecessary pain and anxiety that tags along with it. Rethinking every action, every statement, every gesture, every feeling is not easy. And neither is being prepared for scenarios that even the minds of 10yr olds would consider unrealistic. But I derive peace out of knowing that if I ever did get kidnapped by aliens, I am prepared. Or if my best friend secretly does hate me, it would break me a little less. And that even if you read this and thought , what gibberish is being poured out here, I would be okay. And I would write more gibberish and think some more, as long as I believe that perhaps, just perhaps, theres some beauty in this mayhem after all.
