Tiki at the Magic Kingdom (part 1): My initial visit here was with my parents when I was around 10 years old. I recall the suffocating humidity and the overwhelming crowds that made navigating the park nearly impossible. Eventually, my dad suggested we leave, remarking, 'this is stupid, we have this at home, let's go back to the hotel pool.' Even then, I remember agreeing that it was unbearable. However, yesterday was a different story. With a pleasant 75-degree temperature and minimal crowds, we walked onto almost every ride. I kept telling Beverly that this was the ideal Magic Kingdom experience. Plus, it was her first time on any of the rides, so it was fun to witness her reactions to classics like Pirates of the Caribbean, the Haunted Mansion, and It's a Small World. The park itself was odd to me... it's like when Wayne and Garth get a professional studio to record in that is a set of Wayne's basement. "It's like we're looking at Wayne's basement, only it's not Wayne's basement." It's like, they had all of the same stuff, it was just a little different. That being said. I totally enjoyed it. It's way bigger. Everything there is bigger. Oh, and in my stories I asked why there are decidedly not-typical-of-tiki water buffalo carvings at the tops of that Polynesian A-frame. Several people weighed in saying that it's because you can see them from Frontierland and that they help to bridge the theming from land to land. I thought it was weird. Tiki is an amalgamation of cultures but I have never seen water-buffalo lumped in to it before. Is that weird to anyone else? Is this something that has been discussed and I'm just late to the party? 🤷🏻♂️ Today is Epcot! What tiki stuff do I need to not miss there? Weigh in. Thanks!
