🎉 Surprise! 🎉 I’m happy to announce that I’m officially transferring to the team at Disney Central! Today was my last shift in my beloved Fantasyland. It’s definitely bittersweet as I’m excited for my new role, but I’m so grateful for my family in fantasyland and the memories I’ve made there. From training over 188 people, assisting with downtimes, evacs, alphas, coordinating at 8 different locales, and more- the best memory I will have is all the magic I helped to make. I won’t be in the parks anymore, but instead helping out behind the scenes in more of an office space. I’ll be on an opening team! CARRBORO, NC -- Honoring their contribution to our health and well-being and their essential role in the ecology of the planet, Carrboro celebrates trees on Friday, April 26. It's Arbor Day, proclaimed by Mayor Barbara Foushee. Thanks to Carrboro Horticulturalist Weldon Jenkins, a new tree has been planted for this special day. The tree is the Carolina Cherry Laurel (Prunus caroliniana), planted at Carrboro Town Commons, 301 W. Main St. Carrboro has been recognized as a Tree City USA for 39 years by the National Arbor Day Foundation and seeks to encourage open, honest discussion of ecological issues and find solutions to the environmental challenges we face. The importance of trees is highlighted in the Town’s Community Climate Action Plan. The Comprehensive Plan outlines objectives for enhancing Carrboro’s tree canopy and promoting “the use of native plants and vegetation to mitigate climate change impacts, assist with stormwater mitigation, and reduce heat island effect.” Did you know? While the rise in atmospheric carbon is radically altering the Earth’s environment, trees can help to mitigate this by removing carbon from the atmosphere in a process called carbon sequestration.
