Pleinairpril mightve ended but I really enjoyed the daily practice....so I continued digitally. Here is the last week in digitalpaint "sketches". I was a little homesick-if you can call it that-for some good old public transit with driving in Atlanta being a nightmare lately so grabbed some references off of Pinterest from my favorite former home. In these practices, I've been trying to find my balance on how loose I am in my process. I feel like sometimes I want to needle in on the details and others a blurry messy paint is satisfying. Trying to find the line where enough is described clearly but there's room for a viewer to interpret. Went comfort zone with a bunch of grey skies ;) which is doubling in helping me practice my color accuracy and values. After the rain🐊💧💧💧 There are thought to be around 400 billion individual trees in the Amazon and other rainforests can grow to similar densities. Raindrops can take up to 10 minutes to reach the ground because of how closely the trees are situated. One of three environments I designed for the #ypnomer isle, Vóreios. This one features the volcanic hazard, Vulcan Spar, or giant firework tree. •◦ 𝐩𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐧 ◦• {𝐟𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒} This picture is an illustration of the song „Paper Crown“ by @alecbenjamin and is one of, if not my absolute favorite of all the artworks I have ever made!👑 On the one hand because I love the song it is based on and have a very deep emotional connection to it, and on the other hand because I am really happy with the visualization of the song’s message.🤍 I spent a total of 63 hours on this painting, with preparation probably more like 67, but that was due to my very perfectionist demands to work out individual elements with as much attention to detail as you can see very well in the hair or the flames..🫠 At the same time, I also tried to put together an appealing color palette that should carry the melancholic, dreamlike mood of the motif and the song with light, pastel colors that also represent the „paper aesthetic“ to some extent.🔖 The song is about the isolation of a girl who builds a kingdom in her mind while isolating herself from the outside world and her fellow human beings by repeatedly building symbolic walls around herself. But in her loneliness and helplessness, this kingdom gradually begins to collapse, sink and burn down.🔥🌊 The illustration is intended to express suffering, despair and the symbol of a crumbling imagination, while the seemingly perfect paper crown, the origami throne with the inserted glass heart and the even walls stand in contrast to her tattered robe and her destroyed surroundings, which represent the reality that is breaking over her.. But after I had done it, I did not regret it in any way!💫 As I usually do very little environment design, even though I really want to learn and improve in it, this picture was a real challenge for me.🫥 At the same time, I think that I mastered this challenge quite well in the end, which subconsciously motivates me to design more environments and buildings, but I don’t know yet how regularly I can jump over my shadow tbh..🫣 Ultimately, I love the harmonious atmosphere of the motif, which is achieved through its aesthetic color palette, the sunset situation and also the temple-like appearance of the house, which is given this Asian grace and beauty by decorative elements such as lanterns and the bonsai tree!🏯🏮 This picture should appeal especially to fans of Asian culture, like myself~🪭🎐 #DigitalArt #ConceptArt #Procreate #Illustration #Art #EnvironmentDesign #EnvironmentIllustration #House #HouseIllustration #Temple #Asia #Asian #Sunset
