[ #pleinairpril day 05] Boju goes fishing in Lei Yu Mun. If you haven’t been, you should definitely add it to your bucket list. The seafood restaurants here are super well known and loved by locals. For this piece, I wanted to try out Hiroshi Yoshida’s woodblock print style. I also loved one of his pieces with a orange sunset and green waters and I thought it actually represents this place quite well. I did a few environment concept sketches for Kai Thorarensen's short movie Emma's Book (which shall now be a feature film) about 2 years ago⌛ This is the very first concept I sketched right after reading the script and scribbling 6 black and white thumbnails. The script had very little detail about the kind of forest Kai wanted at this point of pre viz, and ofcourse it goes through lots of iterations later. This struck a chord with Kai so it made it from being a thumbnail to a tiny bit more developed of a sketch and gave us a starting point. I decided after the last picture to draw something less detailed and colored. Therefore, my choice fell on a vague picture. One of the difficulties was to draw birds, and instead of drawing them through a lasso, I decided to create a brush from seagulls.
