I recently spent a few great days with friends and birds at Fort de Soto Park, one of my favorite Florida destinations. Many people were there for the warblers and migrants passing through but I like to watch and shoot shore birds. There’s something about getting in the water that attracts me. Reddish Egrets are a favorite target and every day there were several working the low tide. This one gave me a pose I find appealing. This is because they are Americas most common brood parasite. A brood parasite is the term for a bird that lays its eggs in other birds nests. They do this in order to relieve themselves from having to build a nest and care for their children. Great adventure at Fort De Sota State Park on a barrier island south of St. Petersburg, FL. The area is a wildlife & nature enthusiast paradise! So many birds pelicans, osprey high in their nests, blue herons, sandpipers and terns were all around us on the water’s edge! Murals in St. Petersburg Florida. This is a lovely town outside of Tampa Bay, but one my favorite and most photographed areas is a narrow alley behind beautiful shops and nice restaurants. Some of the murals are very good, and mix well with the large trash cans and cooking oil disposal containers.
