When someone or something tries to move you, can you maintain your base? Picture the basketball player driving hard to the basket, the running back hitting the hole, or a lacrosse player running through a ground ball; at some point body contact will be made and they will either continue to run through the play, or they will be thrown off line and the play is lost. A lot of this has to do with their ability to resist movement in the frontal plane. ___________________ Anti-Rotation Press variations are a great way to build this Core Strength. Pictured is the lunge variation. In solid split stance athletic position and the band at your chest, press straight out in front of you, resisting any movement the band tries to apply to your body. No twist, turn, tilt, etc. Hold your position strong just as you would on the field/court. 2 sets, 10 reps per side. Add a 3 second hold out in front is a great way to up the intensity. ___________________ #3sixtyathletics #peaktomorrow

Everyones favorite, 3Sixty athlete @maddiee_miller joins us for #fullfrontalfridays with a sick Slider Side Lunge Demo and some help with her never ending struggle with chubrub ___________________ This variation of the side lunge forces the adductors to engage eccentrically and stop the leg from sliding out from under you and then forcefully contract to help bring you back up. This is a huge underrated benefit for athletes as they react to opponents and change direction. ___________________ What I’d like you to appreciate is how the body remains stacked on the non slider side from ankle, knee, hip, and shoulder, while the leg on the slider remains straight throughout the movement. ___________________ Pick up a pair of furniture sliders at Target for 10 bucks and try them out for 2-3 sets of 10-12 reps per side. If you are training weightlifters or powerlifters this is a fair statement. But if you are training athletes, pairing exercises like the Single Leg Lateral Box Drive and Rotational Med Ball Throws for sets of 6-8 reps with 60 seconds of rest is a time efficient way to build power while getting quality work in the frontal/transverse plane. _______________________ Know the science, but also know the context and how to apply it. #FullFrontalFridays Frontal plane training leads to athletic dominance. Prehab for the hip and shoulder leads to less injury. Frontal plane prehab leads to 100% full likelihood of boring... What’s the fix? Pair movements and go to work. Enter the Mini/Mini Combo. ____________________ Throw a mini band around your ankles and grab a full size micro mini around shoulder width. Hit the Glute 2 Step for 30 seconds followed by 30 seconds of Mini Band Pullaparts. Maintain control and a quick but deliberate tempo. Repeat non stop for 5 minutes. #FullFrontalFridays Round 2: Nationally Ranked Squash Stud and 3Sixty athlete @k.d.gens wrecking Band Resisted Side Lunges today. ___________________ Speed kills. Specifically, lateral speed. In this case, the band pulls him hard into the lunge and forces him to absorb force, decelerate, and immediately accelerate to overcome the band on the way up. As a result, transferable lateral speed is built. Added bonus: it’s an awesome injury reduction exercise in terms of promoting ankle, knee, and hip health. ___________________ Points of performance: Hips back upon absorbing and they stay relatively high. Shin angle is slightly forward, putting the knee on top of the toes. Trail leg stays straight throughout the entire movement.
