Columnea fimbricalyx The specific epithet reflects the most distinguishing feature of this species. The margins of the calyx lobes are "fimbriate" – a term that means fringed or with "hair-like" appendages or projections. The individual fimbria protrude and extend beyond the length of the primary lobes. The type locality (the population or specimen that is the basis for the name) is along Ecuador's northern border (near Colombia) in the Provincias Carchi and Cantón Tulcan inside the Reserva Indigina Awá ( = Kwaiker or Awa-Kwaiker). Golondrinas (the footage featured here) is near the type locality. I am a research botanist at Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, and the footage featured here is from a recent exploratory research expedition to the Cordillera Golondrinas in the northwestern Andean slopes of Ecuador (near the Colombia border). This tiny pot of Sinningia concinna ‘Seropédica’ blooms on and off all year long, and since I last posted it over a year ago, I figured I would take some new photos and post it again! It’s still just as cute and dainty and lovely as always. All I do care-wise is make sure the (tiny bit of) soil it’s in doesn’t dry out completely… other than that I sorta forget about it… 😇 Some people say to keep it in high humidity, and although my humidity stays in the 50-60% range for a lot of the year (not exactly “high”), it can drop down to 30% in winter. This plant doesn’t seem to be fussed about that as long as I keep the soil moist though. The pot it’s in looks tiny, right? Well it’s even smaller than it looks – that white pot is just decorative. Gekweekte Kaaps viooltjes zijn net toverballen en heel divers in uiterlijk, zowel qua blad(vorm) en kleur maar ook de vorm van de bloemetjes. Zo heb je single, double, semi-double, frilled, fluted, star, wasp, cup en bell vormige bloemen. Elke hybride heeft haar eigen beschrijving van hoe het plantje eruit hoort te zien. Dit bereik je alleen maar via bladstekken want bij zaailingen is het sowieso een verrassing hoe het plantje uit zal pakken. Juist die diversiteit maakt dat ik het een geweldig leuke soort vind. Semi-mini African Violet ‘Morgan’s Baressa Vintage Pink’ 💕💕 in full bloom! I have had a small collection of miniature violets on my kitchen windowsill for years. They have a special place in my heart as gesneriads were one of the groups of plants that first got me hooked on plants more than 15 years ago ☺️ I got this one as a gifted leaf from @grow.green.fingers a couple of years back and it has turned into an incredible little plant that is everything I could want in an AV - perfect size, easy to grow, blooms like no tomorrow and super pretty! - those double flowers are the perfect shade of muted dusty pink that ages gracefully so the flowers look nice for ages. Mine has scruffy leaves as it’s right next to my dish soap dispenser and the soap splash marks them I think 😅, but otherwise the plant is just perfection! 알로카시아의 무늬는 모두가 그러한건 아니지만 비슷한 특징을 가지고 있는 것으로 관찰되고 있다 예를들면, 온도가 높아야 무늬가 잘 나온다라는 수많은 케이스들을 종종 들을 수 있는데, 여기서 아마조니카 폴리 스플래쉬(민트바리)의 자구묘들로 재밌는 결과값이 나왔다 우리집은 겨울에 온도가 18.9~ 23.5 도 사이랄까 평균 온도는 20~21도 정도 유지하고 있었다 동면 하려는 모습을 제외하고 무늬만 체크했을 때 실습으로 버티던 친구들 중 한개체는 잎을 유지한 상태로 동면을 했고 봄이와서 첫번째로 나타난 잎은 100% 올 초록 무지잎이 나왔다 흠. 역시 온도와 관련된 것일까? 하지만 그 당시 리빙박스에 그냥 처박아 두고 관심도 없었던 자구묘들은 모두가 핑크색 핵무천이로 자라고 있었다 흠. 그럼 온도가 정답은 아니라고 봐도 무방한 것인데 그럼 뭐가 중요한 걸까? 내가 생각하기에는 무늬세포랑 성장세포가 같이 반응하는 것 같다는 추측이 매우 강하게 든다 온도는 아무래도 상관없지만 성장하려 하는 세포가 활발해지는 순간 무늬세포도 확장되던지, 증가되는 형태로 보여진다 두번째 사진의 세렌디피티도 사실상 잎 3장에 1번 무늬 찔끔 유지한 수준에서 지금 2장에 1장 꼴로 무늬가 나오는 수준이 되었는데, 다음잎이 곧 올라올 예정이다 만약 무늬가 더 많아지거나 혹은 반복적으로 나온다면? 세번째 사진은 유명한 샐러분에게 구매했던 무천이 거북이 화이트 개체이다 역시, 한겨울에 꾸역꾸역 올초록잎만 나오다 올봄 첫잎에 콧물이 조금 크게 발려 나왔다 이 친구도 다음주 내로 새잎이 크게 펴질 예정인데 무늬는 이미 확정으로 살짝 보이고 범위가 증가하거나 나타나는 지점이 증가하는 등 변화가 있다면 어느정도 내 말에 힘이 실릴 것 같다 결과적으로 상시 23도 이상을 유지해 줄 수 없는 실습러에겐 알로카시아 조차 못생겨지는 계절이 있을 수 있다는 뜻이다 (온도가 오르면 성장도 활발해지는 건 사실이니까) 무늬별로 나타나는 반응이 다르니까 모두에게 적용 하는 것은 금물이다 우리집 개체 아마조니카 스플래쉬(상추잎) 개체는 여러잎을 달고 겨울을 버텼으며, 무늬는 그대로 유지 하지만 기존잎에 데미지를 상당히 많이 입었지만 잎이 연속적으로 빨리 자라는 마블,혹은 산반형태의 개체들과 같은 모습로 다시 자라고 있다 요즘 창문을 열고 사니 다시 온도가 21도 쯤 왔다갔다 해서 느려지긴 했지만 봄이 온걸 알아 동면 하려는 움직임 없이 느리게 잘 자라 주고 있다 #alocasia #알로카시아 #열대관엽 #열대식물 #플랜테리어 #가드닝 #홈가드닝 #gesneriads #gesneriaceae #plantlove #plants #plantshouse #houseplants🌱 #aroids

미니 바이올렛 n아담의 1년이상 멈추지 않던 만개 릴레이의 끝이 다가왔네요 추가 꽃봉우리 없이 이제 잎이 무성해지고 있어요 저렇게 작은 아이가 그렇게 크고 많은 꽃을 1년이상 유지해 줬다니 참 안쓰럽기도 하면서 대견하기도 하고 ;; 아직까지 꽃이 만개해 있으니까 대충 14~15개월 무한 만개 했다고 치고 막을 내려야 겠어요 오래된 잎과 꽃을 정리하다가 문뜩 안쓰럽길래 게시글 남겨보네요 꽃보느라고 잎도 작아지고, 목대도 많이 못 만들고 ㅎㅎ 고생했고 한동안 편히 쉬자. 게네리아스과 식물은 대부분 목대가 형성되기 때문에 목대 만드는 것도 해볼만한 큰 재미랍니다^^ #violet #미니바이올렛 #열대관엽 #열대식물 #플랜테리어 #가드닝 #홈가드닝 #episcia #에피스시아 #gesneriads #gesneriaceae #plantlove #plants #plantshouse #houseplants🌱 #aroids
