I want to share a quick personal story with you all. As I’ve said many times, it’s not just about flowers for us. There are so many reasons behind why we choose to get up daily and undertake back breaking labor to grow a perishable product that doesn’t provide “nourishment” in the typical sense, so I thought I would share one of the many reasons. Mother’s Day is a very bittersweet holiday for me, as it is for many. It’s a celebration of the wonderful mother’s in my life I’ve been blessed to know, especially my own mother, who is my angel on earth. It is also a stark reminder of a dream that I had that will never be, at least, not in the sense that I thought. I’ve shared this part before, which is that due to chronic health issues and a rare cancer, my hopes of bringing another little piece of my family into this world were dashed after failed attempts at IVF and an urgent, medically necessary hysterectomy at age 32. And the kicker: my doctor had to call and break the news to me on Mother’s Day. If you would like to read the whole story, you can read that under the “about us” section of our website. At this point, I had one farmers market season under my belt (a mix of produce and flowers) and was planning for our second which would be all cut flowers. I’m not kidding when I say that this love for gardening and growing flowers was divine intervention. Each day despite the physical pain and ache in my heart, I would continue to plant seeds, and nurture our plants, and check on them daily, connecting with them on a soul level. Feeling comfort in every warm ray of sun that touched my shoulders, joy in every bird’s song I heard, and hope as my little plants began to thrive despite the odds. It was a year of learning on so many levels. Learning to accept failure in gardening and in life, learning how to sit with those uncomfortable feelings, learning to grow and push through the mud and muck of being a human, and learning that I could use my inherent desire to “nurture” in ways that could still bring a piece of Jared and I into the world. I took a walk through my garden last Thursday before it became mine no longer. These were some of the best blooms that greeted me along with a handful of beautiful male Goldfinches. Jesus was the revelation of God in human form and He was born into our time, and existence for many reasons including being our human representative to fulfill God’s Laws as our Savior, since we could not do it for ourselves, He restored the relationship God’s creation has with God through His shed blood, and Jesus set the example of living a holy and righteous life through sacrificial love and obedience to God. There is only 1 God and He revealed Himself to us in 3 forms: God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son of Man, and the Holy Spirit. When Jesus lived on this earth, He lived as humanly as we do in His need for food, water, and sleep. Jesus prayed in reverence and obedience to God and He taught humanity how to live humbly with our God. Jesus healed, Jesus was tempted, but did not sin, Jesus walked among humans on this earth, Jesus conquered sin and death, and He lives today. 🙏
Our first event of the season was a blooming success! We parked in front of the library at Vermont State University Lyndon Campus @vermontstate_lyndon for their Spring Day celebration!
