💫Transition periods💫 Since increasing my paid work time, I have really noticed how important it has been to lean on our village. With 2 shift working parents we rely on family support to ensure our little ones are always cared for. This allows us to go to work, have family time and make time for ourselves. We are very fortunate to have this option as I know so many don't. I have noticed that I am feeling more comfortable with the house not being as organised and tidy however, I am still finding my balance with this. Being organised with childcare, self care, family time and time as a couple is something we are still navigating. I am sure we will find what works for us eventually, and that it will be ever changing. The more I think about the changes that are occurring and the challenges that arise I can now see that for our family to run smoothly my husband and I need to prioritise our own self care. I am finding myself falling back to approaching life similar to how I was planning for my postpartum and the early postpartum times. (especially with the lack of sleep in our household with winter illnesses and time changes 😴) It has shown me how important it can be to plan and prepare for any upcoming changes within the family unit to allow the family to function in a way that everyone gets their needs met. There will be teething issues, everyone may have big feelings about the changes (yes, that can include the adults too), and things may take many pivots to find something that works. With all of that said you will get through it and you will be so thankful for all of the learning and opportunities for growth that arise in these transition periods. I am feeling so grateful for all of the lessons that I am learning and it feels good to be working as part of a bigger team again. Sending lots of strength to anyone deep in a transition period currently, remember to put yourself high on the priority list. Without doing this you will not be able to show up in the ways you want to. If you are currently planning for your postpartum or any other transition period for your family this is something that I am able to work with you to create a tangible plan 💕

People think infertility is like getting a negative pregnancy test every month and feeling sad. But it’s so much more than that. It’s grieving the life you once planned. It’s feeling like you don’t have control of your future. Watching others easily get what you’ve been working so hard for. Feeling like no one understands…feeling stuck and isolated. It’s feeling exhausted & overwhelmed. It’s dealing with anger, sadness, excitement, disappointment, grief, and hope all at once. Infertility is being told by family and friends with the best of intentions to “just relax” as if you’re a controlling person. And maybe if you didn’t have to have everything so planned then we would have been pregnant the first month we tried. As if it’s not a medical condition. It won’t just go away, just like diabetes or cancer. Laying around the house or taking a nice relaxing vacation won’t make us fertile. Hawaii will not improve a sperm count. A hot rock massage will not restore hormone imbalance. And a “fun night out” to take your mind off conceiving will not miraculously cause us to become pregnant. Infertility means months and months later wondering why everyone around you gets to choose when & how many kids they want. The best way I know how to describe it is… Imagine being at an amusement park with no ticket. And, as much as you plead, pay, or try, you can’t get a ticket. You just stand there watching everyone else have fun and enjoy themselves but you stand alone, outside, only able to watch. But the hardest part is watching. Watching those who get this valued ticket. Watching some rip it up, watching others throw it away. You watch knowing you would have taken all of those tickets. But you can’t …you can’t just go around collecting unwanted tickets. And no one can just give you theirs…even if they weren’t going to use it anyways. Watching those who are just walking by get thrown a ticket and they’re thrust into this park they weren’t ready for. But you’re ready. So unbelievably ready. Watching those who just sit down in the park and don’t enjoy the ride, the fun, sometimes the throw up, the late night and they sit there…just wishing their time in the park away.
