Clairement et inlassablement admirative de l’œuvre de Pauline Guerrier ✨ Félicitations pour cette nouvelle exposition : @guerrierpauline @romeropaprocki @annelaure.peressin 👏🏻👏🏻 Pour cette exposition intitulée « Heterotopia », Pauline Guerrier dévoile - en partie - un ensemble d’œuvres réalisées à partir du savoir-faire de la tapisserie. Réalisées uniquement à la main, sur la basse d’aquarelles et de schémas préparatoires, Pauline Guerrier a confié l’étape de la tapisserie à des tisserands au Népal. Elle y est ensuite intervenue pour sculpter la matière, révélant ainsi différents reliefs. Si son geste renforce tantôt la délimitation des zones de couleurs, il va aussi au-delà de ces contours. La tonte transcende alors ces derniers. Yeux, jarres, jaillissements, gouttes, mains, empreintes, arc-en-ciel, serpents, oiseaux. Comme des fragments de rébus juxtaposés et enchevêtrés, ces œuvres se déchiffrent selon notre propre subjectivité. As part of the Advanced Urban Design Studio (Fall 2023), MUD students explored and addressed the complexities of scarcity and abundance in the city of Emeryville. Urban Design Studio projects series (Fall 2023), showcasing the work of Bageshri Thakar @bageshrithakar Title of the project: “Delirious Emeryville” Description by the author: As cities grow, there are functions that keep being expelled, creating inner and outer peripheries. The project attempts to rethink urbanism in this context to respond and accommodate these functional necessities and infrastructures within the city fabric. This idea finds its theoretical base in Paola Vigano and Henri Lefebvre's texts on heterotopia. Emeryville’s historical industrial roots and urban decay, coupled with its ethos of embracing growth and change, present an opportunity to envision the city’s future for 2050 through a functional and sustainable landmark. This initiative aims to disrupt the conventional blend of functions and infrastructure and stimulate the exploration of atypical, unconventional, and exciting functions, integrating them into the unique fabric of this nontraditional site and city. Was wünschst Du Dir für Dein Leben in 20245? Kurz vor Weihnachten wurde ein 600qm-Leerstand im @forummittelrheinkoblenz zum gemeinsamen temporären Kulturort mit der @heterotopia21-Ausstellung #Gottdernutzlosendinge. Ein Seminar von @danielagottschlich – unserer Professorin für Nachhaltigkeit und #Gesellschaftsgestaltung – besuchte als „Reisegruppe aus der Zukunft“ die Ausstellung und führte mehrere Interventionen im öffentlichen Raum durch. An einer Station konnten Passant:innen auf einem großen Plakat ihre #Wünsche für ihr Leben im Jahr 2045 aufschreiben und mit unseren Studierenden über ihre #Zukunftsvorstellungen, über #Sinnstiftung und #Prioritäten ins Gespräch kommen. Nur ein kleiner Ausschnitt eines Vormittags mitten in Koblenz und keine empirisch belastbare Studienarbeit – das Plakat spricht trotzdem für sich… Wir sehen immer wieder bei solchen Stichproben, dass nicht spezifische Luxusgüter Priorität haben, sondern das gute Leben für alle! Oftmals fehlt es aber noch an konkreten Visionen einer nachhaltigen Zukunft jenseits von grünem Wachstum und dem vorherrschenden techno-ökonomischen Paradigma. Sebastian Zarius @sebastianzarius explores the properties of transparent materials such as plastic bags and packaging in an intuitive search for form and composition. Using photographic processes, Zarius creates highly colourful, abstract images in which the original source is no longer recognizable, but the origin is still perceptible and present. Goma is an early series, dating from 2010, that experiments with type as well as shape. Lists of ingredients on plastic packaging are revealed and yet redacted or obscured with colourful bars and digital scratches. In the more recent Plastic Memory series Zarius focuses more on shape and pattern, rendering the source material even more removed from the viewer. Heterotopias: Reimagining the CSM Museum & Study Collection through the lens of Spatial Design - Last chance. This weekend is the last chance to see the Heterotopias window display at CSM Granary Square. Closing Monday 4th March Architecture and Spatial Design Foundation students created proposals for public engagement spaces, responding to objects acquired by the CSM Museum & Study Collection through the Graduate Award. These spatial proposals invited critical engagement with a selection of work by CSM alumni from diverse disciplines and cultural backgrounds, curated according to four key themes: identity, health and care, social justice, and climate emergency. The aim of this project is to encourage our students to access the highly diverse and fascinating archive of the CSM Museum and Study Collection. The academic team felt it was important for students to use the museum as a catalyst to reimagine and question the wider institution from the start of their journey at Central Saint Martins.
