J16 - Rometta - Calvaruso - Messina Je prends à nouveau la décision de faire les deux dernières étapes en une, 31 kilomètres. Je prends le temps de marcher et de profiter de ces derniers moments dans les montagnes siciliennes. Après une heure de marche, un nonna des environs fait quelques kilomètres avec moi et me parle de sa vie. Un peu plus loin, une autre nonna m’accompagne à nouveau en me racontant l’histoire de sa famille. Je suis en t-shirt et en short, elles portent toutes les deux de longs manteaux en laine. Après cette belle compagnie, j’arrive au dernier point culminant de la chaine montagneuse que je gravite depuis 16 jours, je vois Messina, mon but final. Le retour à la ville est intense et me fait encore plus apprécier les semaines passées. Au final, j’aurais marché 16 jours au lieu de 20, je vais pouvoir en profiter pour explorer d’autres parties de l’île, et enfin pouvoir aller sur l’Etna qu’au final je n’aurai fait que contourner. J14 & J15 - Novara di Sicilia - Castroreale - Santa Lucia del Mela - Rometta Je décide de faire les trois prochaines étapes en deux jours, 37 kilomètres pour le premier et 25 kilomètres pour le second, je ne sens plus la fatigue ni les kilomètres passer. Le chemin est particulièrement lunaire aujourd’hui, je marche dans le lit d’un torrent d’une largeur allant de 20 à plus de 100 mètres. Comme il a plu la veille, je me retrouve à zigzaguer dans les gravillons pour passer et surtout sauter au dessus des tronçons d’eau. C’est une des plus belles étapes de ce voyage, je suis recharger par la soirée de la veille et à la fois je me sens légèrement nostalgique des jours qui viennent de passer. Heureux de ne pas avoir été emporter par le courant du dernier torrent traversé, j’arrive à Santa Lucia del Mela, je monte au sommet du village pour admirer le coucher du soleil en me repassant en mémoire tous les beaux moments de ces quatorze derniers jours. Après une bonne pizza, je rentre au monastère. La nuit ne sera pas de tout repos, deux chèvres ont élu domicile sur le toit juste au dessus de ma tête. La journée du lendemain passe assez rapidement et j’arrive en début d’après-midi à Rometta. Padre Mario est justement dans les environs et nous passons une partie de l’après-midi ensemble. Le soir, je vais faire des courses à l’épicerie locale et c’est l’occasion de tester mes connaissances d’italien, j’ai énormément progressé. Le soir, je cuisine dans mon appartement et me prépare mentalement pour la dernière étape. J13 - Montalbano Elicona - Novara di Sicilia Je quitte Montalbano Elicona vers sept heure du matin. Je fais un détour par les Megaliti dell’Argimusco avant de sillonner des vallées verdoyantes remplies de bétails. Plusieurs vaches sont installées en travers du chemin, je passe à côté d’elles sans qu’elles ne me prêtent la moindre attention. J’arrive à Badiavecchia en début d’après-midi où m’attendent Daniela et Padre Mario. En général, comme les logement religieux fonctionnent sous forme de dons (juste de quoi couvrir les charges), j’ai pris l’habitude de proposer mon aide ou de demander s’il y avait des activités organisées avec la paroisse, aussi parce que je n’ai pas grand chose d’autre à faire. Padre Mario propose donc de venir me chercher le soir avec sa fiat 500 seventies pour me faire visiter les environs et aller à la bénédiction de la Madonna dans la paroisse de San Marco à 30 minutes d’où je loge. Rien que la route est un expérience en soi qui vaut la peine, la bénédiction aussi. Chaque année, la (statue) Madonna fait le tour des maisons du village et chaque soir est bénie avant d’aller dans un nouveau foyer. Nous rentrons au presbytère avec Padre Mario, nous avons des discussions intéressantes et passons une bonne partie de la soirée ensemble. Encore une très belle rencontre. J11 & J12 - Randazzo - Floresta - Montalbano Elicona Le onzième jour, je traverse une réserve naturelle où une tempête a fait rage quelques jours auparavant, le chemin était interdit au public et par chance est ouvert le jour où je dois l’emprunter. J’arrive à Floresta en début d’après midi, le village le plus haut de Sicile. Paolo m’accueille au Mamma Rosa avec une bouteille de vin et du saucisson de sanglier fait maison. Le soir, je rencontre un couple danois/italien, après un repas bien arrosé en leur compagnie et avec mon ami italien rencontré quelques jours plus tôt, nous nous donnons rendez-vous à l’étape suivante. Le jour qui suit, après une marche assez courte j’arrive à Montalbano Elicona où il y a une fête médiéval. J’appelle Nino mon hôte, mais par mégarde je n’avais pas confirmé mon logement, heureusement il me trouve une chambre en last minute où je peux passer la nuit. Il tient un stand à la foire et me fait gouter toutes les spécialités de la région. Je vais au lit de bonne heure pour essayer de passer entre les goutes le lendemain car la pluie revient. J10 - Cesarò - Randazzo Une grosse étape m’attend, avec beaucoup de route dont une nationale, de quoi me rappeler les débuts de cette aventure. Sur ce tronçon, l’Etna est plus présent que jamais, de quoi faire passer cette journée en un clin d’oeil. A part les sentiers transformés en rivière par les pluies, une sandale emportée par le courant et rattrapée de justesse avec mes batons, tout se passe bien. Après 10 jours, j’ai appris énormément sur moi-même et j’ai gagné en confiance. Le soir je dors à Randazzo dans un monastère, je me réjouis de la suite. J9 - Troina - Cesarò Aujourd’hui, la marche semble simple, peu de dénivelé et une pente douce la plupart de la journée, je vais suivre le lit d’une rivière sur environ 10 kilomètres. Je sors de Troina et entame la descente jusqu’au cours d’eau. Le premier obstacle se présente devant moi: une autre rivière qui descent de la montagne. Il a beaucoup plu ces derniers jours et il y a plus d’eau que d’habitude. Pas question de tremper mes chaussures cette fois-ci, je les retire et mets mes sandales. Je traverse sans encombre, je me sèche les pieds, j’enfile à nouveau mes chaussettes et mes chaussures de marche. Au final, je vais répéter cette opération sept fois sur la journée, avec des passages plus simples que d’autres, avec de l’eau parfois jusqu’aux chevilles et parfois jusqu’à la taille. Mais il fait beau, l’Etna se rapproche et sur les derniers kilomètres un chiot m’accompagne, beaucoup plus sympathique que les chiens de berger ou les autres chiens de garde. J’arrive à Cesarò, je passe la nuit dans un hotel où je rencontre un italien qui fait la même route que moi, nous nous donnons rendez-vous à Randazzo le lendemain. Sicily 🇮🇹Winter in Sicily is a perfect time for hiking if you like to walk without crowds and have a nice weather. The temperature during the day was around 15-18 C. I visited the stunning #zingaro Reserve. I did Sentiero Costiero and Sentiero di Mezza Costa, but in my opinion you can just enjoy costal trail( 12km). If you look for amazing views and it is more flat, you can skip the Orchids path and do just the coastal trail in and out. I started the trail in parking lot in Scopello, 20 minutes by car from Castellmmare del Golfo where i stayed overnight. Distance: 15 km Scopello - San Vito Lo Capo - Pizzo del Corvo (Orchids Path) - Scopello. Ascent: 519 m Total time: 4h 55m Moving tim 4H 8m Ticket: 5 Euro Parking GPS: 38.08179,12.8082 You can start as well from North, from San Vito lo Capo and walk to Scopello. The next day i drove 30 min west from Castellmmare and hiked in Riserva Naturale Orientata #montecofano What a pure pleasure it was to hike here, most of the hike i was by myself, enjoying the sea and the wind. I did not expect anything and was surprised how beaitful it was (last 4 pictures). J7 & J8 - Gangi - Nicosia - Troina Je commence la journée par un croissant crème pistache dans un bar pour recharger mes batteries. Mon chemin traverse de nombreuses prairies et suit des chemins de pâtures, le tout agrémenté par la pluie. Je m’arrête à Sperlinga pour visiter son chateau creusé dans la roche et j’arrive au couvent des Frères Franciscains de Nicosia en début d’après-midi. Je suis accueilli par le frère Salvatore Seminara. Je passe la nuit dans les chambres destinées aux marcheurs et aux pensionnaires. Trois frères et soeurs y séjournent pour le moment, avant ça, ils étaient à la rue. Je passe la soirée avec eux, nous cuisinons ensemble et nous échangeons sur nos parcours, un moment agréable qui me fait relativiser sur ma vie. Le lendemain, j’enfile mes chaussures qui n’ont pas eu le temps de sécher…pas grave, à la sorite de Nicosia, j’escalade des chemins boueux et après deux heures de marche, ma route se transforme en ruisseau. Après 25km, de l’eau jusqu’aux genoux et quelques kilos de boue sous mes semelles, j’arrive à Troina. Jolie ville en hauteur balayée par les vents. Je suis heureux, je commence à apercevoir les flancs de l’Etna, je ne distingue juste pas le sommet à cause des nuages. Je ne sais pour quelles raisons, mais voir la douce pente de ce volcan m’apaise et me rervigore d’une belle énergie, je me réjouis de l’avoir comme compagnon de marche pour les prochains jours. Druhý den na Sicílii vyrážíme natěšení do přírodní rezervace Zingaro, která sehrála důležitou roli v rozhodování, zda shánět letenky na Sicílii nebo ne. Spousta kaktusů, palem, kvetoucích voňavých keřů, ještěrek, trocha potu při stoupání, spousta úžasných výhledů, klikatící se cestičky, perfektní koupačka v křišťálově čistém moříčku, opět dokonalý počet turistů, se kterými se míjíme na horní cestě (slovy jeden) byly skutečně na duchu obohacující. Poznali jsme krásný kus Země, který byl málem zničen novou silnicí. Naštěstí se v roce 1980 sjednotilo 3000 lidí a demonstrovali za zachování parku. První den na Sicílii. Po odpočinkové zimě volíme lehký výšlap ze starobylého městečka Castelmola na kopec Monte Veneretta/Venere (trasa dlouhá 5,4 km s převýšením 446 m). Auto necháváme na placeném krytém parkovišti (1E/hod) a po značené cestě se vydáváme na kopeček, který slibuje božské scenérie. Celou cestu se kocháme výhledem na Etnu, moře, městečko Taorminu s amfiteátrem, rozkvetlé a voňavé kytky, kam dřív koukat ??? Nasáváme teplé sluneční paprsky, ve stínu je sice jen 15'C, ale Slunko je silné a stoupání nás také zahřívá. Yesterday with @nannidifalco and @compagniadeicammini, I traversed more than 12 miles of stupendous landscape in Trapani province (Yes, I'm on the move!). In the distance is Scopello and the Tyrrhenian Sea coastline leading to Lo Zingaro Nature Preserve. We hiked from Segesta to Castellammare del Golfo. I loved every minute of it. Neue Pläne Als ich am Pool des Hotels im Liegestuhl lag, nickte ich etwas ein und träumte von einem Urlaub auf Sizilien und als ich aufwachte, sagte ich zu mir: Ali, genug der täglichen Arbeit, es ist an der Zeit, Urlaub zu machen! Und beschloss kurzerhand, am 25. August nach Sizilien zu fliegen, um einen Wanderurlaub (!) von der kleinen Insel Mozia im Westen Siziliens bis nach Scoglitti auf der „Antica Trasversale Sicula“ zu machen. Es wird jede Menge Granita zum Frühstück geben und viele Städte und Dörfer die ich noch nicht gesehen habe, denn der Weg führt quer durch das Land, denn die Antica Trasversale Sicula vereint 8 Provinzen, 55 Gemeinden, 6 archäologische Parks, 47 Stätten von historisch-archäologischem und monumentalem Interesse und 7 Naturschutzgebiete- ein immenses kulturelles und naturalistisches Erbe, was es neu zu entdecken und beleben gilt.
