Not all Little Free Library hunts are successful. Not book wise anyway, we discovered a great nature reserve that Ivy loved running around. It was nice they put a sign up though saying why the library was missing. I'll definitely be going back there when it's back up and running. When a ‘short walk’ to find this treetop walk turned into a 10km hike through the forests of Singapore… 😅🌴 . 📌 Remember to save and follow for future travel inspiration! 📌 . Whilst in Singapore I wanted to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and experience some of the country’s glorious nature. There are a number of nature reserves with easily accessible trails to make use of, so I headed to the the Central Catchment Area and Macritchie Nature Reserve. . I wandered in search of the treetop walk which is located in the middle of the jungle. On the way I met plenty of wild monkeys, clouded monitors and other local species which was fascinating! 🙉 . The treetop walk was a great way to admire the beauty of the dense jungle. It spans 250m over 25m above the forest floor between two high points of the trail. After this I found that I had no choice but to complete the rest of the trail (doors stopped you from going back!). It was 35 degrees Celsius, humid and very hilly to say the least… . So, 10km later there was a very hot, bothered and sweaty Robbie 🥵 . Druid and I went on a sojourn to a nature reserve in Sandwhich down on the south-east coast took advantage of the intermittent sunshine to enjoy some more of our new favourite, the Honeycomb Black Tea. ☕️ We spent the afternoon at the edge of the small lake, sharing tea with the ducks and walking through the woodland. 🌳 I love taking a moment to enjoy a breath of tranquility since much of life is a massive rush, bumping shoulders and being hemmed in by others. For the last few years this flower bed between the nature reserve & Holi Moi at Dunster Beach had been tendered by the beach staff, but it was looking very much the worse for time. Last year the dying plants were removed & it was left for nature to recover, now just look how healthy it looks for being left alone! We've always looked after & cleaned the bird bath & made sure the water is fresh at our changeovers or whenever we are at the beach, there are now more birds and bees visiting. 'The idea for Wight Wahines Surf Fest came from the want to celebrate the thriving female surf scene on the island. Through our experiences travelling and surfing we came to realise that the island had an unparalleled female surf scene, often with the women outnumbering the men. There is so much joy seeing mums sharing babysitting duties on the beach while they catch some waves and then the young children taking their first white water waves and later developing into teenagers who absolutely rip!
