But we wanted to chase the dream of having a lakefront cabin that we could enjoy with family and friends, for years to come. Jump in the lake, kayak, bonfires, bbq’s and boardgames! Have you ever weighed the pros and cons of an EV? On one hand, they’re an exaggeration of what a gas powered vehicle can be. You can have the looks and comfort of a luxury vehicle, the power and acceleration of a hypercar, and a typically lower cost for refueling and maintenance. Regenerative breaking is also a huge plus, using your brakes to capture the energy of your wheels spinning and turning it back into usable electricity that your car can run off of. But it sounds too good to be true, so what’s the catch? Well, there are a few. The range of one full charge is typically lower than one full tank of gas. Depending on the brand of your vehicle, it can take anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour to get from 0% to 80% battery life. Similar to gas powered vehicles, electric ones also suffer from colder weather mileage reduction, but more significantly. The infrastructure isn’t where we want it to be with charging stations, although there are stations scattered throughout parking lots, there’s still very few places to conveniently pull in and charge while you’re travelling or in a hurry. It makes you wonder if the pros really outweigh the cons of a vehicle like this, which is where Ford sets the F-150 Lightning apart from other EVs on the market. The Lightning sets itself apart by being an EV geared towards the everyday convenience of families. The defining feature of this truck is that in a case of emergency, it can be used as a generator to power your house for 3-10 days as well as having electrical outlets all throughout the truck to take power wherever you go. The suspension in these trucks are also something that you won’t find on any other Ford vehicle, with the specialized independent front and rear suspension, you can drive at any speed, on any terrain without feeling rattled by the cracks, bumps, and holes that you’re driving over. It’s like sitting on a cloud. With dual electric motors and smart differentials, it’s a smooth and stable ride, with power delivered to every wheel exactly when it needs it. As far as EVs go, the Lightning has an incredible ride, and is ready for anything that you can throw at it. As long as you remember to charge it.
