DADDY UPDATE!! After 5 months, Daddy is finally having his last procedure done today and stent is being removed (as I type) from gallbladder surgery he had in Nov. 2023! 🙌🏻🙌🏻 Although it’s been a long process, he is thankful he got his health in order and sugars stabilized BEFORE all this happened! To celebrate all that was ❤️Joseph Podorsek❤️ my beloved Dad, supportive Father-in-Law, doting Grandpa, and respectful Grandpa-in-Law - and utterly amazing human being...we took turns reading out loud to each other the 80+ commemorations and remembrances people sent in to us and talked about him in our lives. Bottom line, he will be greatly missed by all who knew him and he touched everyone he met. Some people even mentioned single interactions from years and years ago that stuck with them. The overwhelming themes were: ♡ his smile ♡ wild ties ♡ his jokes ♡ his lifetime of charity giving and volunteering ♡ his ever-optimistic outlook ♡ his niceness to absolutely everyone ♡ his patience and happy interactions with kids ♡ utilizing thrift stores ♡ all his work with his peace & justice causes and telling everyone about them to encourage them ♡ his giving children $1 (friends or strangers, for 60+ years!!!) ♡ endless talking (he never met a stranger) ♡ always talking during photos and ending up with an open mouth ♡ poker & cribbage games and being a gloating winner (one of the few times he'd toot his own horn) Hope the afterlife is everything you had hoped for and were excited to find out about. On March 22nd, we gathered to commemorate my Dad's life ~ Ashlie, Pat, Walt & I first started with a nice meal to celebrate Family and having each other in our lives.❤️ The downstairs setting for dinner was all beautiful wood in an art nouveau/art Deco style; but, upstairs where the open air bar is, the bathrooms were a hoot from the Men's bathroom entrance sign to the different sayings on the toilet seats - it definitely helped lighten the mood. After the fancy dinner, we wanted something light and went to get Paleta Bars (a first for AshPat). It's fun to choose the flavor of ice cream bar, to the dippings and then toppings. Then we walked home to continue the commemoration.
