He came from a rescue in Iran a week ago (he’s still getting over the jet lag!) and was with a wonderful foster mom in Montreal waiting for me to pick him up. Now he lives a life filled with love and safety with his dad Tony in Montréal. 🔸Nutella has been moved around so many times. He has never been able to find a safe, stable home filled with love and care. He was either kept in a toilet or chained outside in the garden and beaten when he barked. At his last home he was left without food and water for days .This is where safe paws was contacted by a concerned neighbour. One of our members managed to collect him and take him to the vet for necessary treatment. We then put him in a privately run shelter, as at that time we did not have our own shelter. Unfortunately, after a few months we were told that he had a bad eye infection and the vet had advised to put him down. The news was very upsetting as we were determined to show Nutella a loving life. We disagreed with this vets judgement and a member of the team was sent to collect him and take him to seek medical advice from another vet. Our second vet informed us that Nutella had no eye infection but had damages to this eye and had 3 parts of his body broken; hip and two parts in hind leg. He was Severely Malnourished and dehydrated. The vet believed that the injuries could only have been done by someone kicking him or a hitting him with metal bat. With heavy hearts the team investigated to find out where the injuries came from! We found out that he was beaten constantly by someone at the private shelter. The vet advised us to put him to sleep as his injuries were severe and he was likely he would not recover . But we couldn’t do that , how could we? We had saved him from a terrible life and put him in a worse place. We had to give him a chance, we owed it to him . This little fighter was in hospital for two months and endured many operations. Days and hours of physiotherapy. He was a trouper , always smiling and fighting for his life. At times we didn’t think he would make it BUT he did against all odds and all the advice given to us by the vets. 💕UPDATE ON JORDAN💕 Jordan was rescued by WW's Operations Lead in Iran. When he arrived in Montreal, he went to be fostered by one of the rescue volunteers; however he became a foster fail and was adopted by his foster mom. He was so unsure and nervous at first when he came since all he knew from when he was only a couple of months old was the 4 walls of WW compound in Karaj, Iran and he spent about a year there with his mom and siblings. Now it's as if he always knew how to be a house dog, shows his goofy side and belly often, feels loved and secure and he is happy as a clam. Here is what his mom Meaghan had to say about him: "When Jordan first arrived in Montreal, he was so nervous and afraid. He was scared of his surroundings, of noises and of people. Although he was scared, he was so curious about everything that he encountered. He is such a sweet boy and has become such a loving goofball who loves to go on adventures and who is now excited to see the people he used to be afraid of. 💕UPDATE ON JACKY (now Archie)💕 Jacky was also a victim of the classic scenario of selfish humans purchasing a puppies as a novelty and a plaything then, tossing them aside as soon as they start to grow, neglecting them and wanting them out of their home! When Jacky came to Canada he was filled with fear and anxiety due to the way he was treated as a puppy and being moved around. The 1st family who adopted him were wonderful; they named him Archie and gave him time and were patient so that he can decompress and start feeling safe and confident. Unfortunately due to a serious illness in the family, they couldn't keep Archie anymore and reached out to Woofy Wishes again to find him another home. Archie was very lucky to find another family who were willing to give him time and put in the work to make him feel comfortable again and reach his full potential. He now lives in in Chetwynd BC, having an amazing life with his new family, and going on daily adventures in nature every day! Here is what Archie's mom Svea had to say about him: "Archie joined our family in December. It was a rough go at the start getting Archie settled in. He was very aggressive towards males in the family and needed a lot of decompression and patience. After a few weeks, he really started to blossom with us, showing us his true Archie personality! Lots of snuggles, zoomies and helping himself to anything on the counter! We have found Archie thrives when he is allowed off leash in the wilderness. He absolutely loves long trail hikes and backcountry skiing. He is a true woods dog and it's a joy to watch him explore. Since we adopted Archie, we have moved to 30 acres up North and it's a playground for him. Archie is now starting to learn manners at home! He enjoys his big brother pug immensely, and all other dogs. He is still very protective of his house and the people in it. 💕UPDATE ON JENNY💕 Jenny suffered the same fate of so many dogs in Iran, which is purchased as a puppy for entertainment purposes, then due to lack of empathy and commitment, she was moved from home to home. Now she lives in Ottawa with her mom Tracey who truly knows her value, loves her to pieces and giving her the life she deserves. "Jenny and I found each other November 2021 at the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Airport in Montreal. She had been flying for two full days yet was happy to jump on my lap and cuddle all the way back to Ottawa. We've been best friends ever since. Jenny has settled in remarkably well. She is a calm and gentle dog with love to give to everyone who crosses her path. She is so sweet and very popular with my neighbours on the street. The kids just love her! Jenny is a big fan of The Great Outdoors and we are lucky in this area to have several wooded parks within walking distance. You can often find Jenny and I out hiking, she's a natural! All appropriate needles, had her first nail trim that she was very good with. Entirely on raw food now & flourishing. Delightful with kids, other dogs, neighbors. Never had an accident since she arrived. Was so nervous, we didn’t push the cage, she retreats to a little mat beside our bed when we go out or she needs a break. Absolutely never does any damage inside. She has made a playmate with the old grouchy cat. Enjoys zoomies in her own backyard, stalks squirrels & birds for the fun of it.
