Heard from University of Salford & Student Union’s representatives such as Simone Buitendijk, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Pradeep Passi, the Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor for EDI, Ed Moloney, CEO of the Student Union, and Leanne Kirk from the Report & Support Department, providing their perspectives and support to the cause. Their presence not only underscored the university’s commitment to inclusivity but also lent credibility and weight to the workshop’s objectives. the workshop wouldn’t have been a success without the contributions of Nafysa Adam Khan from Report & support. At the helm of the project was @amnain98 , the President of ISOC, @adnanskaizen , SEE Sabbatical Officer, and @hmadx.ali , the Volunteer Head of Exec and upcoming B&L Sabbatical Officer, & @atta_ur10 , the community activist their leadership and dedication ensured the seamless execution of the workshop. With their guidance, the event transcended mere awareness-building to become a platform for meaningful discourse and action. The workshop also benefited from the insights of community activist @atta_ur10, whose firsthand experiences shed light on the realities of Islamophobia and inspired attendees to become advocates for change. Fraternity Movement DU vehemently condemns the islamophobic and offensive statements made by Vivek Samtani during a recent stand up comedy show that took place during UMANG'24 fest conducted by ENSO society of Dyal Singh College, University of Delhi. Samtani’s remarks, disguised as jokes, maliciously depicted muslims as inherently linked to suicide bombing and violence, portraying Islam and its followers in a dehumanizing light. It’s regrettable that such slander was met with encouragement from the audience, exacerbating the offense to muslim students. A student who bravely stood up against this disrespectful act was further mocked in a very derogatory manner. We stand in complete solidarity with the students who felt humiliating and hurt by the stereotypical, islamophobic remarks. We firmly demand a sincere apology from Mr.Vivek Samtani towards the affronted students, and from the official entrepreneur society ENSO of DSC to release an apologetic statement regarding the same. Post‐traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression are the most common mental disorders in the aftermath of war for both adults and children, occurring in up to one third of the people directly exposed to traumatic war experiences. Exposure to traumatic events is the most important risk factor in this context. However, for children in particular, the detrimental effects of war trauma are not restricted to specific mental health diagnoses, but include a broad and multifaceted set of developmental outcomes that compromise family and peer relations as well as school performance and general life satisfaction.
