Yesterday, I got very spooky at the @spookyswapmeet at the @heritagesquaremuseumlosangeles ! For my outfit, I decided to be Georgie from It since @mrfloats was going to be there ONLY ON FRIDAY! There were so many guests both living and non-living that appeared yesterday when the gates opened! I was also greeted by one of the hosts @barryunderyourbed, who is always so fun to see! Also, my friend @jeffheimbuch ! Of course, I had to walk through the Hale House and was greeted by the Crooked Man aka @trixthetrickster Walking over, I saw my old Addams house was now the @sanatoriumemporium ! This year, I wanted to become a ghost, so I first attended my funeral, jumped into a casket, and dawned my yellow death shroud and because a GHOST! We always love the @lahauntedhayride and had to see their spooky porch at night, and we definally found some spirits at Midnight Falls! Ended the night at the church where @adamjessfx was looking for fellow Ghost hunters, and at the end, you became an official ghost hunter! The church was definally transformed! A coming of age horror about an evil town, mostly manifested as a clown, and the seven outcast kids who try to defeat it. King’s greatest talent might be writing from kids’ points of view, and this movie captures that wonder. It is a coming of age story, a fairy tale, and a horror all at once and none are sacrificed for the others. It is heartwarming, funny, brutal, magical, and absolutely terrifying. One of the scariest films ever made, with an equally scary score. For fans of the book, just know that it takes place in the 80’s, not the 50’s, some things were left out, and some plot points and characters were changed slightly, mostly out of necessity. Mike’s (the only black character’s) role is very minimized and there are one or two schlocky eyeroll moments, but overall this is a stellar film. The combination of Bill Skarsgård’s portrayal of Pennywise and Andy Muschietti’s masterful direction makes for a bone-chilling voyage through a summer in Derry, Maine. And remember, folks: always accept balloons from sewer clowns.
