Persona 4: Golden (2008) by ATLUS A teenager in his Sophomore year moves to the small town of Inaba to live with his uncle and cousin while his parents are away on business for a year. But shortly after his arrival, two dead bodies appear - the apparent work of a serial killer - disrupting what was once a quiet town. Upon learning about a local urban legend called the Midnight Channel, rumored to show the killer's next victim on rainy nights, is actually true, the hero and his friends form an investigation team to reveal the killer's identity. I finally finished Persona 4: Golden! And I got the Golden ending this time, which honestly was more extended than I was expecting and I'm so happy I went through a second time for it. Everything is wrapped up nicely in the new epilogue and manages to fit well with the two spin-offs that Persona 4 has. And yes, I have been playing those two as well :P The Hollow Forest dungeon was actually stressful, despite the multiple warnings from other players about it. I was level 99 so I was thinking it would be a breeze. Well... Not when the dungeon saps your MP every battle and the game gives you very scarce items to replenish it. There were some tricky spots, but I managed to work my way through it. The final dungeon was probably the coolest looking of them all. Persona 4 Golden is fantastic and more than worth your time if you like JRPGs, detective novels, and high school dramas. I took an extended weekend to fly to the serenely beautiful #mountains where my elderly parents live and help them out in a time of need. When I could, I caught moments for myself to enjoy the sound of silence and the solitude of #nature . FYI: If I was away from the Internet for a few days, it is because where they live the Wi-Fi was out (tried to fix it, but they have AT&T… enough said), so I saw it as a sign to help them out more, and spend time with family. I went to walk the lines today and was saddened to hear the news that the strike is not over for the actors. However, while I walked, I had some interesting conversations, made a few new friends and was happy to show up to support my fellow actors who deserve fair wages, good working conditions, and AI protections. For some reason I was thinking about my grandfather today, Hans Alexander Straus. He was a big influence in my life, even though he lived far away in another country. Because when I got to see him, I felt he really understood me as a child. He saw who I was. I remember vividly him complimenting the funny animal cartoons I drew, and asking if I was going to be a cartoonist when I grew up. I smiled broadly & told him “No, because it’s too much sitting in one place.” I was only 8 or 9 years old. But my Opa is the reason I found the courage to pursue creative arts, acting, voice over and is one of my inspirations when I sing. He used to say that he liked sitting next to me, as it made him feel “peaceful “. I felt at peace around him too. I wish I had spent more time with him before he passed, so many years ago. Did you have anyone in your life, family or friends or a teacher, who really helped shape who you are today in a good way? Someone who inspired you… to just do what makes you feel…. happy to be yourself? Keep that in your heart. Persona 4 (2008) by Atlus In Persona 4, you play a male high schooler who has moved to the small Japanese town of Inaba to live with his uncle and cousin while his parents are away on business for a year. But shortly after his arrival, two dead bodies appear - the apparent work of a serial killer - disrupting what was once a quiet town. Upon learning about a local urban legend called the Midnight Channel which shows the next victim on rainy nights is actually true, you and your friends gather together to solve the mystery. It was while writing the description for this game that I realized just how intricate the plot of the game really is. What's not mentioned up there is that the main character (MC) discovers that he can enter tvs and explore a shadow world full of monsters. He learns that this is where the victims are taken and if the victims are still on this side when the fog appears in the real world, the victim will be killed by their shadow selves. The MC's friends are all kidnapped one by one by the midnight channel killer and it is only when they face their shadow selves and embrace both the good parts and bad parts about themselves can they truly move on or to put it in the game's words: "the power to face all the struggles and challenges of life" or something to that effect. I loved Persona 4 and it probably might be my favorite among them. I really identified with this core friend group and it really helped that this whole game had a slasher movie vibe to it. The whole concept of facing the parts you don't like about yourself and embracing it, I felt was so powerful. I think had I played this one sooner, playing out storylines like Kanji Tatsumi or Naoto Shirogane would have made me come out sooner. It's got some strong storytelling that 15 years later is still highly relevant. I've been playing Persona 4 Golden, which is the expanded release, but I'll save that review for my second playthrough as I accidentally only got the Standard Happy ending (which made me tear up so much!). Why did I fail? Well, the first time I said the wrong thing and got a bad ending. MC leaves town but the end of the world happens starting with Inaba.

#flashbackfriday : I found an old #photo album, so here’s some of my very first #headshots from my on-camera days. The first one is the most “ME”. I was a total California girl. The second I had to wear a ton of make up, so it doesn’t really look like me, but it’s amazing what having a makeup artist on hand can do! Third and fourth pics were for various looks. You know it’s funny looking back at these pictures.. there were things I knew about myself and life that I know to this day, and then there was other things I didn’t know about life when I was younger that I wish I did. At auditions, I used to compare myself to a lot of the really gorgeous Hollywood starlets that I auditioned against, and I did not think that I was attractive. At the beginning of my career I also didn’t take compliments very well. I just shrugged them off. I’m glad I learned differently as I got older. I certainly don’t take life too seriously these days. But it’s fun looking back at these pictures and realizing how time flies and how much things have changed. I’d love to see other people’s pictures, and hear them talk about how they have changed since they were younger… or stayed the same.
