PLANTS▪︎A favorite view of mine🤍🌱 I snapped this a few weeks ago...and it has changed so much since then. Those 'string of hearts' legs are hanging down past my propagations now...and those gurls over my cabinets are working their way across my ceiling even more! (They are linked in my bio) We are heading off for 10 days in Maui and I love knowing that our 'house/plant-sitter' won't need to worry about watering my gurls up high. I have been monitoring their drinking habits with our current season...and they need the water reservoir filled about every two weeks. With over 300 plants to take care of...not including our garden and outdoor pots...less to water is nice. These incredible planters will also be playing a big role in two more feature wall projects I have planned. Yes my livingroom wall is one of them! So thanks to @sevensharptvnz last night I discovered #cluttercore - a trend started by the young folk over on TikTok as a rejection of the kind of soulless, minimalist decor that's dominated spaces like Instagram and interior design mags in recent years. Cluttercore might not be what you think it is - it's less about mess or hoarding, and more about celebrating interiors filled to the brim with things you love and that are meaningful to you. Here in NZ, home ownership and climbing the property ladder is so ingrained in our national psyche that the hive mind has deemed clutter bad, because "resale value" 🙄. We're told that in order to sell a house it needs to be devoid of any personality or signs of actual life so we can keep on climbing that ladder. The problem is that we seem to have adopted the "staged for sale" look as our universal decorating style whether we're selling or not. And in doing that, we've forgotten that homes are for living in and that it's OK to surround ourselves with the things that bring us joy, even if they're not on trend or Instagram approved. Cluttercore might not be for everyone, but I think deep down we all want our homes to be uniquely "us", and there are aspects of cluttercore that we can all embrace like putting sentimental items out on display or letting our inner geek loose on a quirky curated collection. Pinch punch, it’s the first of the month! White rabbits! Aprills means ‘to open’, which the Romans thought was a good name for April as it’s the month when trees and flowers begin to bloom 🌸 🌺 🌹 🌼 It could be time to move my favourite little fir trees and bring some blooms in 🤔. Happy new month!
Who’s been up hours with the clock change? 🙋♀️ I’ve been watching documentaries on famous Hollywood Actresses- Ginger Rogers, Lauren Bacall, Ingrid Bergman. They were all beautiful and very successful, but not without hardship or tragedy in life. Ginger was paid much less than Fred or even other supporting male actors even though she could do everything Fred did but backwards. I was up early, but grumpy because Insta swallowed up my posts this morning- how very dare it. Fingers crossed this works 🤞. I found some Easter decorations and put some daffodils in my hanging test tube vases, thanks Sharon @blacknwhitethatch_1835 for the idea. Spring might be springing in, but there’s no spring cleaning going on here, I’m fed up of all that malarkey in lockdown last year! Having said that I need to sparkle up my streaky windows ready for the sunshine. Enjoy your Sunday x

I’ve never kept one past Christmas before this one which was a gift from a lovely friend two Christmas’ ago. It’s having it’s time and it’s even got it’s own corner now as I’ve just moved it here so it can bond with the red postbox library. I hope it likes it here. Happy Friday! How are you feeling? I finally have some plans in the diary for April and it feels really good 🙌🏻🤞🏻 I’m also loving life because I finally have a freestanding bath. The decor is a bit neutral for me but nothing a bold bath mat and some plants can’t fix for now! 🛁
I'm pleased to say that mission: reclaim my windowsills was a complete success! There were so many people at the @plantyaffair plant market yesterday that I almost completely sold out within the first hour, and only came home with 8 small plants that didn't sell. Stupid me forgot to count how many plants I took with me, but I'd estimate it around 150 so that's a pretty good result in my books! 👍🏼 Now the propagating starts all over again - I'm already eyeing up which of my plants needs a haircut. First up will be this beast of a syngonium which is rapidly taking over my whole kitchen ✂️
Can I just say that I love when Emma’s room is tidy and we can actually utilitize the floor space to play? And playing is just what we did - not with any game but the wonderful deck of Affirmation Cards from @i_am_me_affirmations 💜 I ordered them actually last year to give them to Emma for her fourth birthday and we only got around this weekend to give them a shot and really talk about it. The idea is that your kiddo picks a card everyday, with different affirmations, such as “I’m the boss of my body” or “I respect nature” - and than you have a conversation about. This was taken last week when we still had frozen snow on the lawn. The giant poinsettia from last year has just started showing it’s magnificent blood red plumage. I’ve been so careful to ensure it wasn’t left in a draft so kept it in the orangery all year, evidently it’s had too much light through the year hence the late blooming, but I quite like that it’s adding so much colour and joy now - after the Christmas party is over. Happy new friends 💗 you wanted Emma’s room, you got it! Today started of at around 3am when Emma declared she can’t sleep any longer (she was running a high temp/ not fever but ya know not being 100%), which was followed by a nap on the sofa at 6am 😂 So yes I’m not at my best today, but we did a lot of coloring in, tidying & baking. Not mad about the slow start but I do hope she gets a full nights sleep today (and me) 🙏 On another note, if you think I’m ott with keeping things near and tidy - I’m not, just swipe to the right to see Emma’s desk and see what can happen ... 🤣
SPOILER: Ranty post ahead! Can we talk about the "natural" trend that's going on at the moment? I see so many people on here saying that they prefer "natural" colours, when really they mean neutral i.e. shades of white and beige. This irks me because the colours of nature are so much more than just varying shades of dead wood. If you think about it, nature is the greatest artist with the most fantastic and gaudy colour schemes ever created! 🌈 I like natural colours too - they just happen to be on the much brighter end of the natural spectrum. I’ve teamed up with @nhsengland who are trying to spread the word that their services are open even in lockdown. Back in 2018, their talking therapy was invaluable to me. I was struggling with the grief of losing my Dad and the anxiety it was manifesting as. I plucked up the courage to reach out to my GP and was referred to a weekly therapy session. The relief I felt was immediate - to know my feelings were valid and after every session I left with relevant tools to help me cope. If you are struggling at the moment please don’t suffer alone. Now more than ever we need to look after our mental health. NHS Talking Therapies are OPEN. Trained therapists can help with all common mental health issues via online sessions or over the phone. I saw a post yesterday and I’m sorry I can’t remember who posted it, but it went along the lines on what we tell our kids, when bad things happening in the world/ or when people do bad things.
