Day 4 since I picked tulips at the @keldersfarm tulip festival. They were getting super tall — as they do — so I gave them a nice trim and combined two vases into one this morning. I’m not that good at flower arranging but I love seeing this happy bunch together. I have loads of daffodils and hellebores and blooming cherry trees in my own yard but there’s nothing like the different colors and shapes of tulips (well, til we get to dahlia season ;) 🪙After some very brief online research when they were all opening super quickly on day 2, I tried putting a penny in the bottom of the base to help them last longer and I really think it helped! Also my face is back on the profile pic here instead of our (very lovely) team logo cause I was beginning to feel more like an anonymous company as we grew and grew rather than the community I’ve loved building here so much. It feels sort of weird to be more visible again as the head of this amazing team of people, but we’re also going to do better at letting you get to know them as the awesome people they are! On this Earth Day, we are so happy to announce @communitycompostco is launching a new composting drop spot at Accord Market! Accord Market has been composting since we opened our doors in 2021, having composted over 30,000 lbs of food scraps. We will now partner with Community Compost Co. to make food scrap recycling more accessible to the community at large. Did you know more than half of household trash could be composted? CCC is a Ulster County-based women-owned business that recycles food scraps into organic compost at their farm facility in Kerhonkson. You get what you give? Maybe. Hard work is important but that doesn’t mean going ‘hard’ every day, every workout. Sometimes the hard thing is putting together enough consistent, ‘hard enough’ training over a long enough period of time to see the results you want. As a coach, I emphasize the gradual, long path. Any goal worth pursuing takes time, and work over that time. There will be setbacks, missed workouts, progress stalled for no apparent reason, but also spurts of unexpected progress, achievements beyond expectation, and a deep sense of confidence having put in ‘the work’. Everyone can get stronger. Everyone can make gains. Everyone can improve their independence and quality of life.
