Carson was joined onstage by the mesmerising Shannon McGrath - who resembled seventies Talia Shire crossed with the Kinks - playing electric organ and tambourine she complemented McHone's rich guitar tone quite beautifully. McHone's setlist consisted of songs from her latest record, 'Still Life' released via Loose Music at the start of 2022. The Daniel Romano produced, 'Still Life' was quite a sonic shift from the traditionalist country sound on 'Carousel' as McHone showed off a heavier guitar and brass infused sound. As ever the beauty of her music was in her vulnerable yet defiant prose and her exquisite vocals. During the show McHone discussed her recent move from Austin, TX, to Ontario, Canada, and the harshness of the winters north of the border. Having spent six years living in Toronto myself I can confirm that they are cold as shit. McHone also informed how the self-reflection enforced by the thing that shall not be named informed her songwriting on her latest record. Songs such as the title track, 'Hawks Don't Share', 'Fingernail Moon' and 'Folk Song' were particular highlights.
