The biggest takeaway from last week is that it’s okay to ask for help. You can’t always do everything on your own, and it truly takes village to get things done. @feathertalia has one of the most calming, sacred souls I have came across & it was an honour to host her on the First Nation community my kokum came from and that I’m proud to be a part of. As a drag artist and a producer, we sometimes put so much pressure on ourself to make everything “perfect”. I tear myself down at every chance I get, and need to oversee everything so I know it’s running smoothly. It’s hard not to let those negative emotions run wild, but you always have to stop and think “why am I doing this”? I do drag because I love feeling beautiful, I love the sisterhood, I love bringing audiences together and providing them with a fun evening that they will always remember, and I love giving back to communities. Yesterday we raised the flag and proclaimed the first annual Two-Spirit Awareness Week in Lac Seul First Nation. In the pictures are Ever Sick! Founder Jordan Angeconeb and community Elder Hammond Lac Seul. We am proud to have the Two-Spirit Flag fly at the entryway to our community and give hope to other queer Indigenous youth who are struggling with their identity and loss of culture.
