This is still very overwhelming for me and feels a bit unreal. I singned up for @gapatrail as training for the @mountainman.de in Nesselwang end of May. Also it was sort of my 1 year running anniversary. I knew I’ll be fine to run 27km with 1000moa. Did the 30 at ZUT last year and my running stats at that time were way worse (10 runs a year with an average of 7.5 km since 2015. In the past months since then I ran already 500km, so I knew I would be okay even though I didn’t run much at all in the past weeks). I got so motivated and excited for this event and even expected it to be fun (still weird, I mean, running!? Ok I think I cannot make this joke anymore 🤡). Maybe some people here have read about my struggles I’ve been facing since I’ve got my feet into bike racing years ago. I don’t want to get deeper into that again but what I love to repeat is my goal for this year: doing things I love with only joy being the intentional driver to push myself. Nothing else. No structured training, only fun (but hard)😇 So on Saturday was the first race day of the year I considered a time of 4 hrs 15 would be realistic. Had even the secret dream of finishing in 4 hrs but didn’t even think that’s doable. Also wouldn’t want to stress myself so didn’t waste too many thoughts on it. But that I make it in only 3:34 - that’s just blowing my mind and I still cannot believe how free I felt and like this so able to trust and push myself. No pressure, no stress of proving anything to anyone, no comparison, no blockages. I just enjoyed to run and got the best out of myself. I just ran. Even when it got harder after 20 km, when I started worrying that my pace was too high in the beginning, even during the last 4 painful flat kms with annoying headwind and the ski jump (finish) that didn’t want to come closer, when my body constantly told me to stop running and to just walk, I simply continued to run. Because I was certain I can. Because I wanted to. There was pain, my legs were tired, but there was no doubt. My mind was free. And that’s the biggest success for me. Well, I got hit with the flu, and I've been off the bike. It's not ideal as I'm trying to get trained up and get ready for the buckshot in 21 days. The very first morning in Sumbawa. My plan to watch the sunrise from the coast of West Sumbawa failed due to the late arrival of the ferry. I ended up watching the sunrise from the ferry and it was a particularly beautiful morning from the harbour at Poto Tano. Maybe it wasn’t, maybe because it was a new sight for me, especially when I noticed the presence of Lombok’s own Mount Rinjani to my right. The 7am sun was a little more intense than I’m used to, but somehow it was a little cool (not for long though), the air felt so fresh, everything felt new and exhilarating. I started off slowly, mainly to get a good look at Mt. Rinjani from across the sea, and later realised that a particular area called Kertasari had instantly become my favourite. As the clock struck 9:30, I pushed myself to avoid arriving too late at Sekongkang, the finish line. The climbs got harder as I got closer to Sekongkang; maybe it was the high percentage of average gradient, maybe it was the heat. Later that night, one of the locals asked me about the difference between riding in Lombok and Sumbawa, and he pointed out the intensity of the Sumbawa sun. It was definitely the heat that made me struggle.

2024/04 WROCLAW > BERLIN - After 2 days of Poland we took a train back to Berlin. A cancellation made this 400km journey another adventure.
