01.05.64: I WISH YOU WOULD - THE YARDBIRDS Hätten Sie größer werden können als die Stones? Vor 60 Jahren, am 01.05.1964, erschien die erste Single der Yardbirds, genau wie die Stones eine R&B Band aus London, die mit einer Coverversion debutierten, nur dass ihre Single 'I Wish You Would' (im Original von Billy Boy Arnold) wilder und tanzbarer war als das Stones Debut 'Come On' und vielleicht auch genau deshalb nicht die Charts erreichte, weil es authentisch war und nicht zu glatt.. Der Hit und damit auch der Kommerz kam erst ein knappes Jahr später mit 'For Your Love', was Gitarrist Eric Clapton zum Ausstieg aus der Band bewegen sollte.. Die R&B Bands aus London waren keine Beat Bands wie die Liverpooler, aber sie begründeten den Beginn der Popkultur ab 1964 mit und sollten sich auch im Laufe der 60er schnell weiterentwickeln.
