There is beauty in imperfection.😍 Yes, IMPERFECTION. Let me explain. This weekend, I spent about 14 hours in an @animalflowofficial workshop with the lovely @madelineberky and eight other beautiful humans. This workshop pushed me wayyyyy past my comfort zone and well into uncharted territories because: 👉There were no bikes😂 👉There were no barbells, dumbbells, or kettlebells 👉We focused on just bodyweight movements, most of which were new to me🤯 👉It demanded me to get more comfortable with a bit of choreography (I used to dance, and let’s just say that memorizing choreography is NOT my strength😉). And guess what? I loved it!💜 Yes, I disliked how unnatural I felt the first few times through a movement sequence. I felt awkward at best. But, the imperfections within my movement helped me see and feel what was missing or what I needed to do differently.💡 Besides, we’re not striving for perfection since perfect doesn’t really exist, but a level of ‘imperfection’ allows for space for improvement. I already can’t wait to start practicing, striving to improve even just a little with every moment. So, fam, go and seek the imperfections in your moments, and see where and how you can grow from these things. 🌱 Push your edges. A million thanks to Maddie for the incredible coaching (as always!). You allowed us the space to be robotic at first until we could find some flow, and your inner light is always a bright one.🙏😘 A surprise appearance from @mikefitch.af lit a welcome fire under our animal bums and to bring perspective to the multitude of ways we can make our flows look smooth, while allowing us to access our bodies’ full potential. To be honest I had almost quit on myself and not even because of myself. For a while I found it hard to care about people because I had been drained for years just trying to keep others Confidence up while so much negative talk would surface just because people assume things when you make them uncomfortable with being a little different. It’s easier to bad mouth than to good mouth and for whatever reason as this would happen to me I would push harder in the community to give back, change a life, do free work, donate more. Nothing worked but then God, ancestors and every graduated angel on my team said “ we want to show you something “ and they didn’t give me a choice. I was put on bed rest, my thyroid stopped functioning, I became a type 2 diabetic, Covid crashed my business so I built a new one as we renovated a house and I managed every need of my 3 children. I let myself go, I took care of EVERYONE but me to the point where I would even call myself weak. And then my spirit team showed me how SELF-LESS I could be. From morning to night for months on months that turned into years I didn’t do anything for myself but would make sure EVERYTHING was done for my family. I was 20lbs over weight, I was on medication and I was tired but my kids were- Are in perfect condition. My clients were shining and my husband was growing AND THEN I saw many things. My potential, my power, my grace, my comfort, my patience, my cleaning ability, my transportation ability, my financial ability, my conversations with my kids full of wisdom that adults did not give me as a child and THEN I could see my worth. Ahhhhh man. It was a long three years. I learned A LOT. I will no longer aim to be perfect I will just aim to treat myself as well as I treat my family and If this is how it looks then this is how I look. . I was getting ready in the lorry and Alice had "parked" Biscuit to come and retrieve something!! #topparapony ⭐⭐ Today we went on another road trip to train with 2 people who I have enormous respect for, @emilyormerod_uk and Andrew Harris, at their base @eccliffe_equestrian We started our session with Drew, who hadn't met Biscuit, focusing on bend and corners, so I can begin to learn to use them more to my advantage in tests. As a well respected judge, Drew can pick up the finer details, which is something I can now focus on with Biscuit. I then hopped off (well slid 🤣) and Emily hopped on. We have been having a bit of a block when learning walk pirouettes, though Biscuit knows them, I don't understand them clearly enough yet. By Emily riding she could translate the aids she was using to me, and then we were able to figure out how I could implement them. The result were some definite light bulb moments for me, and the foundations of walk pirouettes that look like they are meant to!! We then worked through my trot tear drops and 10m loops with 10m circles in. By breaking them down, refining where I need to look and how quickly I need to prepare. Biscuit is a big horse, the movements come up quick, but to perform them at his best, I MUST be on the ball and be thinking ahead. It felt so good to be out training again, increasing my exposure without competition pressure. Very grateful to both Drew and Emily for making time for me, and helping me to think outside the box even further and stretching my comfort zone that bit more. Winter Freeze recap: I didn’t make the a main. I was 55 of 118 on qualifying. We started 9 of 25 in one of the 4 b mains but I didn’t make the top 5. Scoring says I finished 10. Everyone said I was either 7 or 8. They were having scoring issues all night, heat line ups changed at least 4 times, so who knows. It was lots of competition and it was a good experience. Day 2 and Day 3 Clinic highlights: adjustability work, forward 5 stride followed by collected 7 steps to halt. Doing less is more, hand on hip course was tough for me, I tend to be a busy rider (especially with my hands!) Excellent exercise for learning to let my horse be and follow him. 4pm is homework time. Asher plays for a little bit first, then we sit together for studying multiplication, states, spelling words, and usually his poem. Then he sits at the table for reading comprehension, math, and writing his spelling words. Then he will read to me for 30 minutes. Seelie sits at his computer desk and does his homework independently. He is usually done way before Asher. While Asher works independently, I squeeze in a little reading. (Anyone sense a theme in my day??) I finished The Last Noel during carpool, so I get to start a new book! New blog today! I don’t know about you guys with your kiddos, but my sweet 4th grade boy is a hot mess with his focus. My title says a lot of homework, but really it is not SO MUCH. It just seems to take him SO LONG. And then he wants to take a break after two or three math problems. It seriously is so frustrating. And the thing that makes it harder is that he is so smart! His grades have always been great. We have tried a variety of things, including music while he is working. The music helps sometimes but not consistently. Then we had a big breakthrough the other day. I ordered a new oil called Kid Power. Mostly because I heard it smells like an orange + vanilla ice cream cone. So I had to have it lol! Plus it is supposed to help with confidence and elevates mood. I think part of his problem is that he also gets overwhelmed. So. I combined the Kid Power with Geneyus, which is for focus and concentration. And BOOM. Moving through that homework! He asks for it now. And at our parent/teacher conference his teacher asked about it. Told me he was welcome to bring it and use it at school. For all those parents out there that are on the homework struggle bus – I see you. I hear your frustration. I hope this blesses and helps you!
