Il suo è un percorso musicale unico e fascinoso, che ha portato la musicista sudafricana di stanza a Berlino a completare una trilogia di album tenaci e grintosi come Sleeping Tapes for Some Girls, Transit Tapes (for Women Who Move Forniture Around) e Teen Tapes (for Performing Your Own Stunts). L’ultimo loro lavoro, Heaving del 2023, era stato un altro passo importante per contribuire all’attrattiva di questa formazione underground, essendo stato capace di riassumere gli spunti dark cantautoriali in una vena electropop tangente ambient e noise à la Bad Seeds. Spulciando intorno al Tubo in questi giorni si può però notare come un singolo – non annunciato e non facente parte di nessun album in uscita, a quanto pare – di nome Rooms sia stato messo online. One of my main discoveries from last year is the new album by Berlin-based singer/songwriter from South African descent, Lucy Kruger. A very pleasant mix of electronica, indie, trip hop, folk... it’s hard to describe the entire palette of genres involved in this album. It turned out to be moderately intimate and very catchy. Auf dem Synästhesiefestival in Berlin Ausgedacht wurde das Ganze seinerzeit im Headquartier der 8mm Bar, gleich neben dem legendären, leider ehemaligem Bassy. Da waren einst auch schon mal The Warlocks und sicher wurden damals schon Pläne geschmiedet. Jetzt sind wir schon bei Ausgabe 8 und stattfinden tut das Festival in ausgewählten Räumen der Kulturbrauerei, was perfekt passt.
