Well I scheduled a post and it seems to have gone missing.... Today is Japan Fest at the mill, a cultural celebration of Japan, the mill gallery nextdoor have some guest artists in and one of our amazing makers got all inspired and created some enamel copper jewellery. Gillian from handmade by Obsidian hand enamels her creations with a blow torch rather than a oven. This means she has full control and often takes several goes until she gets what she wants. New in this week is a range of reversible pendants inspired by Japan and mid century pottery. You can see she has made an almost raku fired one, can you see her other inspirations? As well as copper bangles, enamel earrings and bracelets we have the pennacular broaches perfect for knitwear and some artwork. Good morning, well it's been a tough week for me hence not posting so much. I am trying so hard to stop being a victim but the damage he did to me just keeps coming. I am definitely my own worst enemy at the moment. But I do have glimpses and hours or days of the real me coming through. Can someone explain to me how this has happened? 1st May 😳 And where did the sun go? The new month ahead will be very different for us. For a change, we aren’t going to Devon at the end of the month. It will be very strange seeing all our memories pop up on the timeline and not actually be there. We’ve absolutely loved our time at North Hayne Farm Cottages and the children have holidayed growing up there. So my working month isn’t cut short by a week away but my working hours will be tweaked. If you’d missed anything official, I don’t work Mondays anymore due to family commitments that take me away from home every week. I work Tuesday to Friday and at weekends during busy periods. I am always available on message to answer any questions. The order book is open for June orders onwards. Some invoices were sent for May yesterday, please check you inbox, and there are some customers still to come back to me so I can invoice. Well the weekend was just lovely! Does anyone else wish that every weekend was three days long? It always takes me the whole of Monday to feel ready to work again 🤣🤣 We spent Saturday focused on football with Freddie's football ending the season with a 2-1 win and then watched the Rams get promoted! We then got dragged onto the pitch by our 7 year old and should have known there was no way he wasn't going on.. he wouldn't stop talking about it from the second we started walking to the ground! The atmosphere was just incredible and seeing how happy it made my boys made it the most amazing experience 🥰⚽ And then on Sunday, I spent a lovely day at @ivyhouseweddingsuk's Spring open day meeting lots of lovely couples and catching up with supplier friends! My neighbours probably thought I was a bit mad, stood in the garden holding a knitted cardigan up to a lilac tree on a warm spring day but here we are 🤪 It made my heart happy to be stood under it because I just love blossom, it's honestly my favourite thing in nature. I've visited Japan in Hanami season where they celebrate blossom for its fleeting beauty, and I think we could learn something from our far eastern neighbours in recognising the beauty and the hope in the temporary.
