Remembering Steve Holt, fellow artist and friend, Director of NoDa galleries 23 Studio and Wrightnow, who passed away on this date in 2019: Although, unfortunately, I'd not seen him in years before his passing, this is how I will always remember Steve Holt. When he posed for the photo that I would use to do this portrait he was his usual kind of shy, self-deprecating, big guy goofy self. Steve was a funny, genuinely nice person who worked long hours at the galleries and bar and treated all of us fellow artists with respect. He was kind enough to let me have my own key to the galleries and allowed me to have my pick of dates for solo shows. He always paid commissions from art sales on time and worked hard to keep the business relevant and vibrant. He did more than his part in helping to put NoDa on the map. Rest in peace, Steve.
