In some ways I feel like I was reborn the moment I watched her pass, and also in that instance, I SAW, her fear, her pain, and her remorse. And just like that she was gone. But then I thought, maybe thatโs just my projection. After A LOT OF FUCKING WORK, did I realized she only reflected my fears. It was, IS ONE OF THE MOST POWERFUL lessons she could have ever shared with me. Witnessing something so sad and beautiful in one moment can feel so contradictory which only confuses me more. So I looked deeper into that. Iโm a seeker. Itโs what I do. In the same day I felt Like I was re-born, I also felt like I had just started the process of reverse engineering my life. I had to re parent myself all Over again Without her and recognize the opportunities I have with every breath I take. I didnโt know what I wanted, I wasnโt aware of how strong my self limiting beliefs were, and I couldnโt tell the difference between what I was conditioned to believe or were my OWN thoughts and feelings. I didnโt realize how DEEPLY ROODED my traumas were. And I DIDNT know how to GET OUT OF MY OWN way! Healing is not liner. And itโs SOOOO different for EVERYONE! I've never given much thought to regret. I figure whatever happened in the past is just that - in the past. Back then, decisions came based on: 1) ignorance 2) laziness 3) I didn't know what I didn't know. 4) Something I chose not to do. Which is still how my decisions are made pretty much. However when I'm honest with myself, I do perseverate on the ONE regret that pops up every now and then. I should have lived in Europe when I was young. That I should have lived in England or Paris or Italy right after high school instead of trekking across the United States when I was 18. Of course each time I think this, I am quick to reframe this regret because (see #3 and #4) I didn't think to do this at the time. What I know is this: anytime I cycle back to the idea that I didn't do what I think I should'a done when I was 18, I feel like shit. So yeah, Guidance is right. Not everything in life is a do-over. There will be decisions made that we might feel sad about. That we might wish had been different. That we want to believe would have been better. I kind of think that if we carry regret long enough, maybe the real issue has to do with asking if that regret can still be fulfilled. Is that an option? Will I live in Europe one day? Maybe. My life isn't over. One of my favourite pictures from Florence! Many years ago I ordered my credentials for the Via di Francesco Firenze โ Assisi - Rome. Credentials are like passports for a pilgrim. They receive stamps for locations and dates where you stopped or stayed on the way. Some completed credentials still lead to religious forgiveness, others prove a sentence was fulfilled if ordered in a court, fulfilled penance, and for others they allow for a compostela or certificate to be granted at the end of journey. I ordered this particular credential for my family and friends several years ago too! Hoping one day we would set out on a pilgrimage, another camino, in the way or St Francis. The route is marked by the Tao cross. Which is a sign of eternal personal faith, may we never lose hope. I have a necklace with this reminder that I take with me on spiritual journeys. It is an important reminder of our ability to connect to something bigger than ourselves. Or as I was reminded on my longest camino, I am my own temple. After almost a year recovering with my holistic dream team, including massive thank you to.. My partner Jane Thuet who helped with everything as I slid across the floor and went up and downstairs on my behind like a kid! As well as travel in wheel chairs, crutches, and a cane. Fun times for all! Stacey Lynn who has not only supported the ongoing needs of our team and clients but somehow also adjusted for my new requirements over this last year. We pulled off every single commitment in our busiest year yet. Even with some unforseen obstacles blocking the path ahead. Physio Geoff at The Brooklin Natural Health Centre for being the absolute best, and for continuing to torture me back to mobility.. (not kidding, no pain. No gain. He is the best!) Personal trainer Ian, Goodlife Whitby, who is beyond knowledgeable in his strategy to get my muscle atrophy, finally turning around to where my muscles around the knee would even activate, to then strength building! Peeling off the layers takes time. Be patient. Your journey of self-discovery is a marathon ... ๐ ... not a sprint! โ๐ผ๐โโ๏ธ. ๐๐๐ I often have clients approach me with the question: 'how long do you think it will it take for me to change/feel better/be-able-to-do-this-thing-that-everyone-else-seems-able-to-but-I-canโt?โ. We are taught through social media (and most advertising) that to have the life we want we need this product or this formula, this lifestyle or that look... 3 steps to this or 6 months to that - all things that will give us supposedly what we want - fast. This is not something I subscribe to. ๐ ๐ปโโ๏ธ We carry a lifetime of patterns, behaviours and attitudes towards life that are deeply embedded in our psyche and, most importantly, in our body. These take time to unpack, understand, process and integrate. We can transform (of course we can!!), and sometimes it can take that one 'ah-ha' moment to implode years of false beliefs and sometimes it takes several sessions, a few misses and mistakes (those can be the richest places for growth - both for me and my client!!), or one tiny intervention that unfolds the next layer of our incredibly complex, effective and multi-layered onion. ๐ง It may be useful to remember: ๐ซต๐ผ What works for one person, may be unhelpful to another. ๐ซต๐ผ No-one can tell you what is right for you. That is for you to understand. ๐ซต๐ผ Your onion layers are YOURS and this is the puzzle of a lifetime.
