In April 1982, Afrika Bambaataa & The Soul Sonic Force released "Planet Rock" — a 6.5 minute Kraftwerk-inspired track that revolutionized the sound of Electro and Hip Hop. They didn't have access to a drum machine at the time, so they contacted a man with a listing in the Village Voice: "Man with drum machine, 20 dollars a session." In 2012, Rolling Stone ranked it as the 3rd best Hip Hop song of all time.

🕺 Had a great time on Friday night experiencing a triple-bill of independent female artists, each bringing their own styles to the stage. Last night at the WoodNest. The mighty @adammillerguitar … direct after 24 hours of travel, all the way from Australia. I mean it….direct! His performance was jaw dropping, notwithstanding the fierce jet lag. So those of you who will be seeing him this time around are in for a treat. I submitted my first mini issue of Stung, which is only previously available to Ko-Fi members, and is a visual lyric book with collages inspired by various song lyrics. Each piece is titled after the song I was inspired by. Have a listen to them and see if you can pick the lyrics that match the artwork 😉 I had a lot of fun making this, and it kicked off a whole lot of other ideas like the art I'm making at the moment which includes written lyrics as a design element. What the Hell has gotten into me? I went to the local Grange Hall today where I learned more about Mason Bees, picked up free seeds and flowers for the garden in addition to building a 2nd Bee House for the front yard. Earlier I ordered and received raspberry, blueberry, and Strawberry plants to go along with the herbs I already have. The last three photos show parts of the yard that I cleared out last fall and planted 200 bulbs which have been coming up for the last month. I will spend tomorrow working in the garden planting the new things I have and setting up a fence to keep the dogs out. Oh my God! I'm becoming my Father who was always working in his garden. I think I might need an intervention! Let's wait until the fall and see how the garden does first...
