Up, up, over the border of northern Chile and into Argentina! Stunning rainbow colours in these mountains captured us as we drove along, getting pushed by the wind. The single-lane Yungas Road was built in the 1930s and its 80 kilometres connect the Bolivian lowlands with the ‘capital’ La Paz, which lies in the Altiplano. Until 2007, it was the main route and was considered the most dangerous road in the world, with an estimated 200-300 deaths per year. Nowadays, the road is hardly used commercially any more and is mainly used as a downhill bike route. On a day trip, bikers are taken up to 4,700 metres above sea level early in the morning, where the spectacular descent begins. From the cool and barren mountain massif, it's all downhill, first on a tarmac road, then soon onto the old rough road, where the vegetation becomes increasingly lush and the climate more tropical with every kilometre. A total of over 55 kilometres on the bike from 4,700 m above sea level to 1,100 m above sea level. A trip that is not entirely without its risks, but is definitely worth it. M. More than two years ago, while we backpacked a bit in Chile while @overandes was converting Buzzy into our home, we climbed the Villarica Volcano in Pucón. For over a year, it hasn't been possible to climb all the way up to the summit, because of its increased activity, bringing another interesting phenomenon with it. When I found out, I told Ben that if we ever found ourselves nearby again, and it's still as active, I would really love a second visit. Turns out we were and we still had enough time for a quick border hop! We drove to Gecko Hostel, the same hostel we stayed at two years ago as backpackers, only this time we parked Buzzy in the hostel garden. We spent some lovely nights with David, the owner, his friends and other guests around the bonfire made of volcanic rocks, reminiscing about the tour we went on together back then, and all the countries we've visited since our last visit. COVID was still on its last legs when that tour took us until the border with Argentina, still closed at the time. Exactly that border we just used to cross back into Chile from Argentina. The whole trip to Pucón was a pretty special full circle kinda thing. We camped three nights at the base of the volcano, after two cloudy nights, it finally happened. The suspense was really built up by now! On a clear night, you can see the light of the lava projected on the sulphur clouds leaving the crater, making it look as if it's erupting. The beautiful starry night put the cherry on the cake. Worth it. The perfect place to cheer on the sale of Buzzy with some quality Chilean pisco!  After having created some very fond memories in Pucón, we drove on to Conguillio National Park. Hard to reach without your own car which is why we didn't visit during our backpacking time around the area. Allegedly heavily overcrowded in summer, but as winter is coming in this part of the world, there were no large crowds and the nature was impressive. The snowcapped Llaima volcano and monkey puzzle trees are the main attractions. We may have done our last hikes here. Our end date is creeping closer! Next up; Our last weeks in Argentina before returning to Santiago, back to where it all began 🙈

We took the Ruta 25, a stretch of 535km from east to west. It was supposed to be the least boring one to cross the country and we did see some interesting rock formations, for about 50km, after and before just boring and flat plains. Reaching civilization and the famous Ruta 40 on the other side of the country, we permanently and gladly said goodbye to boring roads and hello to green Patagonia again, clearly our favourite part. After driving through Los Alerces National Park, We found Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid's cabin on a beautiful plot of land with mountains as far as the eye can see, in the heart of Patagonia. They lived some peaceful years here before they had to run again. We were the only ones there and it felt pretty special to roam around. In the nearby hippie town El Bolsón we stayed for about a week and enjoyed the scenery, the vibe and some rest. Since leaving Ushuaia we drove about 3000km, and we're still not even halfway through Argentina! We met Bruna and Arslan on our campsite and travelled together for a few days. On our way to San Martín de Los Andes, we hiked up to the Cerro Falkner. A steep but stunning hike, the views were great from start to finish. The 360° view on top left us in awe of nature once again. San Martín de los Andes is a small town situated next to lake Lácar, a lake of glacial origin. It has some sacred significance for the indigenous Mapuche living around it. We followed a walking trail along the lake, through the community and ended up at some beautiful beaches, understanding the spiritual power it may have. From here on out we started driving to the border with Chile, for a little detour, before continuing our way North to Mendoza. Before crossing the border we spent the night at Lanín National Park, surrounded by monkey puzzle trees and the impressive Lanín Volcano. Next up: The Chile detour 🌋 #overlandingsouthamerica #patagoniaargentina #patagonia #elbolson #cerrofalkner #sanmartindelosandes #butchcassidyandthesundancekid #butchcabana #mrbuzzington #ruta40

How our sunset adventure turned into a survival mission... 🆘 We were out exploring a coral wall 150 meters into the sea when the tide came in faster than we expected. Suddenly, we couldn’t walk, barely even stand. Our only option? Swim back to shore with flip-flops in hand and phones in backpacks. As expected, both phones were soaked in salt water. Luckily, mine came back to life after this trick 💡 Remember, never attempt to turn on your phone while it’s wet. Keep it off, and clean it with isopropyl alcohol. I put mine into a bag of rice for 48 hours before attempting to turn it back on. 👍 Of course, we couldn’t keep driving for two days without our phones‘ navigation system, but we were able to extend our hotel stay and made the most of it with some quality beach time. ☀ #overlandingbrazil #travelbrazil #travelsouthamerica #travelmemoir #alexandraallover #expatallover #brasil #brazil #overlandingsouthamerica #brazilnortheast

And just like that, we left Ushuaia and started the drive North towards Santiago. The beginning of the end! We opted for the Argentinean side going North. The Ruta 3 is about 3000km long, stretching from Ushuaia to Buenos Aires. It's mainly a flat and boring road, oftentimes there's hundreds of kms of nothingness between towns, sometimes a lonely gas station in between. Once we asked one of the workers there about her commute to work; the staff lives there for 24 days and then gets 7 days off. Driving 500km everyday would be a bit much indeed.  We found ourselves off the beaten track again, and took many detours towards interesting nature reserves. National Park Monte Leon we almost had to ourselves. In Puerto San Juliån they built a replica of the Victoria, the first ship that circumnavigated the world. The nearby Reserva Provincial Peninsula Puerto San Juliån is where we found traces of the sea lion industry. You'd be surprised of how resourceful they are. We almost got stuck here after a night of heavy rainfall, but of course Buzzy made it through the sticky mud pools. It was penguin season and we saw hundreds all over the coast. The highlight was undoubtedly our boat trip to Isla Penguïno, close to Puerto Deseado. Uninhabited by men since many years, abundant in wildlife. We saw seals, sea lions, sea elephants, black and white dolphins, Magallena and the rare Rock Hopper penguins with their bright red eyes and swaggy eyebrows.  Not that we didn't see any wildlife along the road, guanacos were still very present, Patagonian Mare (rabbit-like big rodent), and we saw a roadkill armadillo being eaten by an armadillo.  During this time we stumbled upon affordable flights that allow us to take two pieces of checked luggage each. So from here on out, we got ourselves a date. On the 21st of May, after nearly 27 months, we'll say goodbye to this magnificent continent and hello again to our friends and family in Belgium. After three weeks on the Ruta 3, we took a turn landinwards, driving away from the ocean, which we probably won't see again on our trip. The list of lasts is getting longer!  Next up: more of Argentina, the mountainous side

The SpÀtzle and goulash cooking depleted our batteries (we also baked bread and a cake). We need some sun and some driving to charge. , and thus time to move on. We explore the rest of the Ruta J. It’s SpĂ€tzle time. Back in El Chalten, we had met Sarah and Mats of @roadtales, who are exploring South America in their Puch. Mats is from Sweden and Sarah from Stuttgart in Germany. We saw them making SpĂ€tzle, and suggested that we should meet again somewhere to have SpĂ€tzle and goulash. By coincident, they arrived at the shipwreck a day after us. Thus, finally we could realize our plan. They provide the SpĂ€tzle and we the goulash. Also, Georg always wanted to learn how to scrap SpĂ€tzle, and Mats showed it to him. A Swede teaching a German to make SpĂ€tzle in Tierra der Fuego. How cool is that! 16 February. After our return to Ushuaia, we visit the Tierra der Fuego national park. The highlight of our visit is the hike along the coast. The weather is perfect. Your first tattoo! And what an ugly one it is! 😅 It all started with us traveling for months together in our landrover through South America. To entertain the kids when we where at a restaurant or cafe we started making funny drawings together of combined animals. This one was the “ pinhonhaaipoesvarkenmeeuw “ (pinquin, dog, cat, pig and seagull). We had so much fun about this drawing, that we decided to make this our new family tattoo. Your dad already had one, now you wanted it as well, so I couldn’t stay behind. 😅 Still can’t believe how ugly it is, but it gives me a smile every time I see it. Thinking about the great times we had as a family! 🙏😊 Only two more boys to go when they are old enough! 👏👏 #familytravel #familytattoo #yourfirsttattoo #familymemories #makingmemories #documentyourdays #specialmoments #uglytattoo #goodmemories #overlandingsouthamerica #pinhonhaaipoesvarkenmeeuw😅

February 2024. Ushuaia. The end of the world, or at least the most southern town in South America. It is quite a nice town, with lots of cafes and outdoor shops. Because it is the gateway to Antarctica—most cruises to Antarctica leave from Ushuaia, it is busy with tourists from all over the world. Most importantly for us, however, is that our daughter Anna (@anna.wi.be) comes to visit us for a few days. After Lago Blanco, we cross into the Argentinian part of Tierra der Fuego. First stop is Rio Grande. Nothing special but good to fill up with diesel and groceries. The we head to the Lago Yehuin. Some would say it’s just another lake with a mountain view. But we love it. There is something special. We stay several days. Some rainy. Some sunny. We take some walks, do works on Bertha, enjoy our apĂ©ro in the evening sun and so on. Last but not least, we are joined by our friends Daniela and Alain of @daniela.alain , who we had met out the language school in Santiago. Torres del Paine, probably the most visited National Park of Chile, or even the whole of Patagonia. It's quite an expensive park, but it found our interest as well, and we had to admit we have fallen for the hype.  Torres Del Paine translates to "Blue Towers" in the native Tehuelche language. Referring to the three peaks of glacially carved granite towering over the park, marking how far the ice reached during the latest Ice Age.  We opted out of the multiple day treks called "O" and "W" as they have to be reserved months ahead and we don't like planning ahead, but mostly because they're far from budget-friendly. Although, just by paying the entrance fee (€32 for three days), you have access to a lot of day hikes. We did a couple of those, each offering a different view of the towers, of which the highlight is the 20km return hike to Mirador Los Torres. Where you can admire them from up close. To beat the crowds, we did something very hard (people who know us, know 😅). We set our alarms at 6am and started the trail at 7am. Finding ourselves almost alone on the trail, we were immediately happy with our perseverance! We reached the Torres a couple of hours later (only surpassed by a couple of 60 year olds, who did the trail running, props to those guys 🙏), and although it was a little cloudy, it was still very much worth it. Truly a mystical place. It felt special to be there. On our return to Buzzy, we passed hundreds of people going up, and we once again realized it doesn't hurt to get up early every once in a while 🙈 By 2pm we were reunited with Buzzy, the trail literally exited through the gift shop, that sign posts guide you to, to reach the parking lot.  Happy with our accomplishment, we awarded ourselves with a little siesta. We spent a total of three days in the park and absolutely didn't regret our visit, it deserves the hype (their roads could be better maintained though 🙊). After the beautiful and quiet Patagonia National Park, we started driving towards the border with Argentina again: the Paso Roballos. The most remote border of them all. No computers, everything handwritten. To be able to leave Chile, we had to apply for a document called "salvo conducto" (safe passage) at the park where there was still internet connection. Without it, we wouldn't be able to cross, we could be criminals on the run!  We were granted the documents, cause we're sufficiently well-behaved, and loved the charming remoteness of the border crossings. The inside of the building on the Argentinean side felt like walking into a museum. Normally Argentina doesn't stamp your passport and everything is done electronically, but as there's no internet, we now do have a badass looking one.  The road was easily one of the most beautiful ones we've driven. The water of the lakes was incredibly blue, wild horses, a lonely flamingo, amazing views and so, so remote. We camped with our friends Eva & Ana again, giving their tent some extra wind protection with Buzzy as the Patagonian winds started to get very real here.  After arriving in El ChaitĂ©n, it became apparent that we reached the beaten track of Patagonia, lots of other campers, cyclists, backpackers... A true hiking hub. We did a nice 20km hike together in National Park Los Glaciares to, of course, a glacier. Although the view was beautiful, we somehow imagined all glacier lakes to have a bright blue colour and were a bit disappointed by the grey colour of this one. Yes, we are obviously spoiled by this point!  Ben did another 20km hike with 1200m elevation gain the very next day, while I chilled in Buzzy, cause it was too cloudy and too windy. He completed the hike in a mind-blowing 4 hours (estimated time 8-9 hours). Half man, half machine!  Next up: The amazing Perito Moreno glacier, because it deserves a separate post 💎

From Porvenir, we drive south east along the coast of the Bahia Inutil, or Useless bay. It got its name from one of the British early explores who sailed into the Bay in search of food or fresh water and found nothing of use. The main attraction is a colony of King Penguins, which are normally not found this far north. It is carefully managed. You need a reservation. You enter in groups for one hour only. And you stay relatively far away from the birds. We were lucky when at one moment a couple left the other birds and came closer to us. Still, I was happy that we had our 500 mm telephoto lens with us. #overlandingsouthamerica #overlanding4x4 #expeditionmobile #blissmobil #worldtravel #overlander #overlandakcvehicle #fernreisemobil #fernreisemobil #visitsouthamerica #mercedesbenztrucks #patagonia #patagoniatravel #kingpenguin

Near Porvenir, we visit a lake with stromatolites. These are layered sedimenetary formations formed by photosynthetic microorganisms, in this case cyanobacteria. 24 January 2024. Finally, we head over to Tierra der Fuego, the biggest island of South America. It’s called Fireland because, when the Magellan expedition “discovered” and explored the Magellan Straight, they saw many fires on the island. It is still not clear whether these were natural fires, caused by lightning, or fires of the native people who lived on the island. We are lucky. The crossing from Punta Arenas to Porvenir is calm with almost no wind. The hike to the the San Isidro Lighthouse is enough for us. Quite strenous as it is mostly on a soft pebble beach. Incredible blue sky and sea! #overlandingsouthamerica #overlanding4x4 #expeditionmobile #blissmobil #worldtravel #overlander #overlandakcvehicle #fernreisemobil #fernreisemobil #visitsouthamerica #mercedesbenztrucks #patagonia #patagoniatravel

We leave Punta Arenas and drive the Ruta 9 further south. It leads to southern most point of continental America. We find a great spot to camp with a view on the Magellan straight, which is unusually calm as there is almost no wind. A walk on the beach to check out the local beach houses. #overlandingsouthamerica #overlanding4x4 #expeditionmobile #blissmobil #worldtravel #overlander #overlandakcvehicle #fernreisemobil #fernreisemobil #visitsouthamerica #mercedesbenztrucks #patagonia #patagoniatravel

January 2024. Our next stop is Punta Areanas, the biggest town in southern Patagonia. The town offers good shopping opportunities, including a free trade zone, and has a few nice cafes, but otherwise is not of much interest. The main tourist attraction are the replicas of the Victoria, the ship which with Magellan crossed the Magellan straight, and the Beagle. #overlandingsouthamerica #overlanding4x4 #expeditionmobile #blissmobil #worldtravel #overlander #overlandakcvehicle #fernreisemobil #fernreisemobil #visitsouthamerica #mercedesbenztrucks #patagonia #patagoniatravel #puntaarenas

We made it to Patagonia! After leaving Mendoza we rode for three days to the beautiful Patagonian town of San Martin de Los Andes, the start of the Argentinian Lake District. We spent just one quick night here, and it was super busy with Argentinian holiday makers as it’s the summer holidays here. We enjoyed wandering around the town, which has Swiss-style chalet buildings (it’s a ski resort in winter). I had an early morning swim and had the lake to myself! On the way out the next day we stopped at a mirador of the town, it’s a really nice place and we could have stayed longer but we decided to move on #sanmartindelosandes #argentinađŸ‡ŠđŸ‡· #lakes #wildswimming #lakeswimming #patagonia #argentinapatagonia #overlandingargentina #overlandingpatagonia #overlanding #overlandingsouthamerica #motorbikes #motorbikeoverlanding #motorbikeadventures #motorbikesofinstagram @ashleyshaw895

Riding the ripio (gravel) road to the Argentinian Lake District We left Mondoza and rode to the Argentinian lake district, riding 1200km over three long days. We did overnight stops in Malargue and Chos Malal. We had our front tyres changed in Malargue by a lovely family-run mechanic, who looked after us very well. One of the days we had some ripio (gravel) to ride on the ruta 40, that lots of locals had warned us about. We left at sunrise, knowing it would be a long day riding. The gravel was deep in places, and it was a slow and slippy ride. Cars and trucks passing caused big dust clouds, and we ended the day tired and dusty. But it was a fun ride, and we had no issues - apart from one of my bags which kept coming loose with the vibration - nothing a strap from Ash couldn’t fix! We also had amazing views of the surrounding mountains #ruta40 #ruta40argentina #ripio #gravelrides #argentina #overlandingargentina #overlandingsouthamerica #motorbikes #motorbikeoverlanding #motorbikeadventures #mountains #mountainviews #motorbikesofinstagram @ashleyshaw895

Touring vineyards by bicycle in Mendoza! Our next stop was Mendoza, the heart of Argentina’s wine region. We stayed for a few days in the countryside outside of the city, surrounded by vineyards and bodegas. We hired bicycles to do a tour of local vineyards to try some wines and enjoy the countryside. We went slower and slower as the day went on, and as we drank more wine, but we had a lot of fun. We tried lots of different local wines - red, white and rose. The wine in Argentina is really cheap, we were paying less than £1 per glass, and really good. #mondoza #chile #overlanding #overlandingchile #bodega #winery #vineyard #wine #mendozawine #vineyardbicycletour #bicycle #overlandingsouthamerica #motorbikes #motorbikeoverlanding #motorbikeadventures #mountains #mountainviews #motorbikesofinstagram @ashleyshaw895

14 January 2024. Time to leave Torres del Paine, as our supplies are running low. We head to Puerto Natales, find a spot at the sea front next to other overlanders, fill up fresh food and wine/beer, stroll through town (nice to be back to civilization for a while), go out for dinner (have not done that in a long time), and do a bit of shopping. Very windy night. The next day we leave Puerto Natales direction Punta Arenas. #overlandingsouthamerica #overlanding4x4 #expeditionmobile #blissmobil #worldtravel #overlander #overlandakcvehicle #fernreisemobil #fernreisemobil #visitsouthamerica #mercedesbenztrucks #patagonia #patagoniatravel #puertonatales

12 January 2024. We say good bye to Christina and Axel who are heading north. We then explore the Torres del Paine park and its surroundings. Very windy at times. We find a good spot at the Rio Serrano, where we stay for a couple of nights. It’s the weekend and lots of locals come to camp and fish. #overlandingsouthamerica #overlanding4x4 #expeditionmobile #blissmobil #worldtravel #overlander #overlandakcvehicle #fernreisemobil #fernreisemobil #visitsouthamerica #mercedesbenztrucks #patagonia #patagoniatravel #torresdelpaine

The next morning, a different view on the Torres de Paine mountain range. We drive to the the Laguna Azul, where me meet Christina and Axel of @weitwinkelreisen. We go on a hike along the lake with views on the Torres and some wildlife observation. Late afternoon, we leave the lake and find a spot outside of the park for the night. We could have stayed at the lake but considered that the price CLP30,000 just for parking did not make sense. #overlandingsouthamerica #overlanding4x4 #expeditionmobile #blissmobil #worldtravel #overlander #overlandakcvehicle #fernreisemobil #fernreisemobil #visitsouthamerica #mercedesbenztrucks #patagonia #patagoniatravel #torresdelpaine

SwissWassi in Zorritos, Peru đŸ‡”đŸ‡Ș I found this campground on iOverlander before even started car camping, haha, I was just browsing and was surprised how many good reviews it has. So it made to my list, and it was one of the first places we stayed at with Clamentina. It was great! The view to the ocean is amazing, and the bamboo chairs are my favorite for watching sunset 🌅 the space wasn’t big, but it had everything essential and a clean bathroom. Dog friendly is a plus!

Exploring the longest cable car lift in the world in Chilecito After leaving Calafate, we rode on the world-renowned ruta 40 to the small mining town of Chilecito. We did a quick one night stay on the way to Mendoza, but whist we were here we decided to check out what we were told is the worlds longest cable car lift in the world! The cable car served the gold mine sitting in the mountains at 4500m. The cable car was built to transport dirt from the mine to the town at 1075m to be processed - a total distance of 40km. It was built in the 1900s by a German engineer, and used up until world war one by British gold miners. The museum wasn’t open when we visited but we to got to take a look around at the cable car, and marvel at the scale and engineering of the system. Sadly it doesn’t look like it’s running any more. #chilecito #chilecitocablecarril #goldmining #minalamejicana #argentina #overlanding #overlandingargentina #overlandingsouthamerica #motorbikes #motorbikeoverlanding #motorbikeadventures #mountains #mountainviews #motorbikesofinstagram @ashleyshaw895

Wine and cheese tasting in Cafayate đŸ·đŸ§€ Our next stop was Cafayate, a town famous for wine production due to it’s hot and dry climate. The town itself is quaint, and is surrounded by beautiful mountains. There are many bodegas in the town where you can take a tour and sample some wines. We decided to visit Domingo Hermanos - one of the only winery’s in the area to have been founded by a local person. We tried four white wines each and had a lovely local cheese board to go with it. It was interesting to learn about the wines and the production and history. We’re not big wine drinkers (we don’t drink much at all these days), but we really enjoyed the wine we sampled. We only had time to stay for one night in Cafayate, and we enjoyed our time here - we would have liked to have stayed longer. The people were very relaxed and friendly, and the endless views over the vineyards to the mountains were beautiful #cafayate #wine #vineyard #bodega #domingohermanos #winery #winerytour #argentina #overlanding #overlandingargentina #overlandingsouthamerica #motorbikes #motorbikeoverlanding #motorbikeadventures #mountains #mountainviews #motorbikesofinstagram @ashleyshaw895

Riding through the red rock valley of Quebrada de las Conchas. We left Salta and rode through the Quebrada de las Conchas to Cafayate. Wind, rain and earthquakes have created beautiful rock formations, ravines, and canyons. We had an incredible ride through the red rocks, and enjoyed stopping to take a look at some of the ravines and rock formations. #quebradadelasconchas #salta #cafayate #redrocks #ravines #gargantadeldiablosalta #argentina #overlanding #overlandingargentina #overlandingsouthamerica #motorbikes #motorbikeoverlanding #motorbikeadventures #mountains #mountainviews #motorbikesofinstagram @ashleyshaw895

Celebrating Ash’s birthday in Salta. From Purmamarca, we rode for a few hours into the city of Salta, where we stayed for two nights in an apartment. Salta is famous for it’s Spanish colonial architecture, and we enjoyed wandering around the central plaza and old town, which had a very cosmopolitan feel. We celebrated Ash’s birthday with a ride on the telefĂ©rico to the San Bernardo mirador. Ash was very happy with a McDonalds and a pizza on his birthday! We liked Salta and felt we could have stayed longer as there is a lot to do in the surrounding area, but decided to move on towards our goal of getting to Ushuaia #salta #telefericosanbernardo #argentina #overlanding #overlandingargentina #overlandingsouthamerica #motorbikes #motorbikeoverlanding #motorbikeadventures #mountains #mountainviews #motorbikesofinstagram #birthday #birthdayboy @ashleyshaw895

Purmamarca - our first stop in Argentina. Purmamarca is a beautiful little village, surrounded by colourful mountains. To get there we rode up to the spectacular Lipan pass, and back down the other side - lots of switchbacks and amazing views. The rock formations and colours were an incredible sight. We only stayed for one night, but we enjoyed wandering around the streets of the village, with views of the mountains in the background, and looking around the artisan market #purmamarca #argentina #pasodelipan #quebradadepurmamarca #overlandingargentina #rainbowmountain #montañadecolores #overlandingsouthamerica #motorbikes #motorbikeoverlanding #motorbikeadventures #mountains #mountainviews #motorbikesofinstagram #mountainrides #switchbacks @ashleyshaw895

El paso de Jama After crossing the border from Bolivia back into Chile, we set off cross the border into Argentina via the Paso de Jama. We had a great day riding, with beautiful views, hardly any other people, and easy paved roads. The pass took us up to 4800m, and through the Andes mountains between Chile and Argentina until we reached the border at 4200m. We had the most efficient border crossing yet - all done in 30 minutes following a series of windows in the same building. #pasodejama #chileargentinaborder #chile #argentina #andesmountains #overlanding #overlandingchile #overlandingargentina #overlandingsouthamerica #motorbikes #motorbikeoverlanding #motorbikeadventures #mountains #mountainviews #motorbikesofinstagram @ashleyshaw895

Off-roading in Bolivia and sleeping in a salt hotel After visiting the salt flats, we did some off-road riding in the area around Uyuni. The off-road routes in Bolivia are adventurous for sure - mostly deep, loose sand, which is slow and tricky for us to ride through. We didn’t get as far as we wanted to, but we enjoyed the ride, and the amazing views of the Bolivian landscape. We stayed in a salt hotel - a hotel made entirely of salt by the owners (the walls, floors, beds, chairs, tables etc). Ash wasn’t convinced, but he licked the walls and confirmed it was salt! It was surprisingly comfortable and we had a good nights sleep #bolivia #uyuni #salthotel #offroadriding #sandroad #overlandingbolivia #overlandingsouthamerica #motorbikes #motorbikeoverlanding #motorbikeadventures #mountains #mountainviews #motorbikesofinstagram @ashleyshaw895
